This looks great! How do we know before purchasing if our local stores are included? The downloads have regional pricing? While this looks exciting I think I’m not understanding the “how” very clearly? 🙂

    • Kelly January 27, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Super Jenn – The prices are average sale prices and will vary a little by region, but will give you a ball park to shoot for when purchasing items at the grocery store. There are two stores, Aldi and Costco, I included because they have great “everyday low prices” and items I don’t see go on sale often. Great places to get staple items. But, all other pricing is applicable to any store. I hope this helps!

  3. Jennifer January 27, 2010 at 2:52 pm

I just got an iphone and this will come in so handy! Thank you!

  4. Alison January 27, 2010 at 2:53 pm

    • Kelly January 27, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Alison – Not yet, but maybe in the future!

      • Lisa July 9, 2010 at 8:12 pm

  9. Lyndsey January 27, 2010 at 9:10 pm

You just made me really want an iPhone. I may actually have to listen to my husband and get one.

  10. Liesl January 27, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Very cool! I will have to steal my husband’s phone when I got shopping! 🙂

  11. Kristin January 27, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Please work on this for droid too!!

  12. Theda January 27, 2010 at 10:19 pm

    Neeeed this for Blackberry!!!

  13. Kelley Crummitt January 28, 2010 at 10:12 am

what about those of us on “cheap” cell phone plans who will not be getting a iphone any time soon?

    I WOULD LOVE this information!!!!!!
Thank you for all that you are doing to encourage us to be good stewards of what God has given us!

    • Preston March 11, 2011 at 11:46 pm

This info is on her main website right underneath the app announcement.

  14. Christy January 28, 2010 at 10:15 am

Great idea! Would love to see it for Android phones (G1, Droid, Hero, MyTouch, Nexus One).

  15. Sammy January 28, 2010 at 1:34 pm

Sounds cool! I have an iTouch not an iPhone will it still come up with the list even if we don’t have WiFi in the store?

    • Kelly January 28, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Sammy – I have an iTouch and when I click on Apps, it just takes me to the store if I am near a WiFi connection. I didn’t think it would. Then you find it that way. Let me know if that works for you!

  16. Rebecca January 28, 2010 at 1:57 pm

I don’t have a cell phone really, just one of those pay-as-you-go phones but I just make myself up a price book in a little notebook that fits nicely into my purse and then I know all the best prices on the stores in my area (we don’t have Publix and several others but we do have Kroger and an
Aldi). The prices change some but I just keep my little notebook updated with the things we eat. Easy and free!

  17. Daphnemomof9 January 29, 2010 at 2:56 am

This is great! I only have an iTouch, which my kids got me for Christmas, and it just wouldn’t update, but I could get at all the info that was already there, offline. Thanks so much, I’ve been meaning to get around to making a pricebook.
.-= Daphnemomof9´s last blog ..Free Coupon Booklet from Pillsbury =-.

    • Kelly January 29, 2010 at 7:19 am

Daphne – I have an iTouch too and if you are near a wireless connection you can get an update each time you have access!

  18. Anne January 29, 2010 at 9:15 am

I would LOVE it for my Droid!!

  19. Sarah February 1, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Great idea! would love this for Verizon’s “Droid” phones too! 🙂

  20. Jennifer February 11, 2010 at 8:13 am

Will you do one for Blackberry too! It looks awesome, but I don't have an IPhone.

  21. Whitney February 12, 2010 at 5:08 pm

Hey Kelly. iTouch user here and I wanted to see if you'd consider adding to the app an option that we can add our favorite stores on our own (like Trader Joe's!). So, I can move my price book to the iTouch for when I go shopping.

    • Kelly February 14, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Whitney – That is a great suggestion, I will put that on in the queu for future upgrades! Thanks so much!

  22. nicole February 13, 2010 at 1:10 am

any chance you could post the list for those of us who don't have iphones???

  23. nicole February 13, 2010 at 7:10 am

any chance you could post the list for those of us who don't have iphones???

  24. susannah March 12, 2010 at 3:03 pm

    kelly,
i've been using the iphone app and it's been helpful….what i can't seem to find is a listing for potatoes…..i saw that there were some cheap ones at Aldi but i rarely make it out there and wanted to know what a good price in general for them would be…thanks

  25. Phyllis@AimlessConversation March 22, 2010 at 10:52 pm

I would love this app for the PalmPre!

  26. Barb Szyszkiewicz June 13, 2010 at 4:58 pm

Thank you! I’ll definitely put this to good use!

  27. Jennifer July 9, 2010 at 8:22 am

I have an iPhone and when I just downloaded this app, it keeps saying “could not connect to the server to update the list. It won’t connect for some reason. I even tried deleting it and downloading again but it’s still not working. Any suggestions?

    • Kelly July 9, 2010 at 9:43 am

Jennifer, There is an issue with the app right now, they are working on it as we speak! I’ll post an update once it is fixed. Thanks for your patience!

    • Kelly July 9, 2010 at 10:54 am

Jennifer – Okay, the servers have been reset and you should be able to connect now. Let me know if you have any issues.

  28. LeeAnn August 17, 2010 at 11:06 pm

Hooray! Looking forward to trying it out on my husband’s ipod touch soon.

  29. Anita B November 12, 2010 at 9:07 pm

  36. Nerdizen April 3, 2011 at 5:10 pm

A wonderful shopping app with enormous potential to save you even more money. Kelly, I’m curious to know whether you will include a reward component to your app in the future? Thanks for a great app!

  37. Robby April 13, 2011 at 6:43 am

RedLaser is another great grocery app. Read the review at: http://www.doitwithipad.com/100/best-grocery-app-part-1/

  38. Lisa June 9, 2011 at 2:32 pm

Is this app avaible for android phones?

    • Kelly June 9, 2011 at 6:45 pm

For now only on iPhone! Sorry. but you can print the free pdf version on the Free Resources page.

Want one for android too… sad face 🙁

  42. Shawna October 11, 2011 at 9:02 pm

yesssssssssssssssss for androids! I’ll be your best friend! lol

  43. Kimberlee December 19, 2011 at 12:20 pm

I have it, rarely use it. Since I only shop aldi & 1 other store, not including WF/TJ, the price comparison doesn’t help me. I have no idea which store is carrying that low price in the app, so I’m probably not going to take advantage of that deal. If I knew which store was claiming the deal, I’d use the app all the time. I hope I’m making sense.

    • Kelly December 19, 2011 at 1:04 pm

Kimberlee, the prices in the app are general prices you can get items at a ballpark price when they are on sale. For instance if I was going to purchase chicken breasts, I would want to shoot for about $1.99/lb on sale. So, if I found them for $3.99/lb, that wouldn’t be a good price, but $2.50 would possibly be a stock up price. Hope that helps. Oh, and these are conventional prices, not organic. There is an organic list you can check prices separately on the app and List Download.

  44. DeeDee January 9, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Love the idea of the iphone app for comparing grocery prices, but I have an droid. Is there any way to get the same app on my phone?! Thanks for all you do!!

    • Kelly January 9, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Unfortunately right now it’s only available for the iPhone. However, I do have them in a printable format you can print off to take with you!

  45. mita March 14, 2012 at 1:12 am

I see that Whitney asked part of my question/suggestion… It was about being able to add other stores onto the apps; the other portion of the question is, can I delete specific store/s I won’t be needing since I live in Northern Ca. & we don’t have them in these parts of the country??? As you may guess I’m not very techo savvy & I’m still learning to use my “iphone.”

  46. Couponing Websites October 8, 2012 at 6:48 am

Hi, I do believe this is a great website. I stumbledupon it 😉 I’m going to come back once again since I saved as a favorite it. Money and freedom is the greatest way to change, may you be rich and continue to guide others.

  47. Shanna November 1, 2012 at 3:13 pm

Hi, I love your website! I recently had my first child and will be staying at home with him, and have already learned so much about saving my family money. I’m not sure if there is anything you can do on your side, but I wanted to let you know that I downloaded the Iphone app and when I opened it up on my phone it was completly blank, and on the bottom was a message that said never updated. Is there a different more up to date app that I should download? I tried deleting it and redownloading it several times and each time when I tried to open it it does the same thing. I would be very interested in having this app so if I need to address this with someone else to get it fixed please let me know. Thank you so much. ~ Shanna Ward

  48. Missi November 2, 2012 at 10:52 am
