Also – to get the avocado seed off the knife safely – hold the knife with only hand. with the other hand push the seed off the knife sliding your fingers from the blade top down on the seed toward the blade. Pops right off. no blood. 🙂
How can you tell it is ripe when its firm? I have cut some open and found them to be too hard inside to use.Thanks
Terry – they have to give just a bit. If they are “hard” like an apple, that is not ripe, but if it is “firm, but has a little give” then it is perfect.
