What great tips! I have been couponing for several months now but just decided to try CVS-ing in the last month. I am hooked! I’ve been wondering, though, if there is a strategy to choosing how to group items in separate transactions so you spend the least amount OOP. I’d be curious to know if you have any advice on how to do that. Thanks!
I am just wondering…if everyone in the US shopped at CVS using these deals, would they still be able to offer them and would this company still be in business? Asked another way, are these deals dependent on some people paying full price for items at CVS or am I missing something? I don’t see how CVS can be a profitable company if they just give their stuff away. Please help me understand this from an economic viewpoint. Thanks!
usually when stores accept manufacterer coupons they send a check to that store for the face value of the coupon PLUS a comminsion amount, so they make money from the coupon. also keep in mid that they are paying wholsale prices so although YOURE getting it for free, they are still getting paid for the item. hope this helps 🙂
If you have a couple things that offer ECBs will you get them for both products? For example buying diapers you get $10 ECBs and buying toohtpate you get $2 in ECBs. Will you get $12 ECBs in a single transaction? I’m more familiar with Walgreens where you can only get one per purchase.
Becky, CVS will let you have both ECBs.
Good to know!!! I started couponing the last few weeks and will start going to CVS a lot. This cleared up a lot of questions for me. What exactly is the Coupon Kiosk for in the store? I saw every woman scanning their card there today. Does it just give you coupons?
Erica, the Coupon Kiosk is where you scan your card and coupons will come out for you.
I have a questiong about the limit listed in the CVS sale paper….if it says Get $2 ECB on xyz limit 1, does that mean I can only get the ECB on 1 of these items per transaction or just limit 1 per that sale cycle?
CVS is my favorite store, but the last 3 weeks in a row, they are printing some but not all of my ECB. Now i figure out exactly how much i should be getting back before i check out. I also noticed they’re not printing ECB for persecriptions filled there. In our area it’s advertised you get $1.00 ECB for every 2 perscriptions filled. I wonder if anyone else is having problems?
Sharon, you don’t get the ECB for prescriptions at time of purchase. They are cumulative so you get them either monthly or quarterly (can’t remember which). Also, what I have found is that if I don’t get an ECB it is usually because I have not purchased the right item. So just be sure to double check, I always as at checkout and they usually can show me where I went wrong!
I’m a little confused. Are ECB’s something you can use right then and there, or do you have to wait until the next time you go to the store? And, regarding the order in which you give you coupons and things to the cashier; is this AFTER you have scanned your card?
I don’t generally shop at CVS because their sales just don’t work for my needs. And, the coupon printer never gives me coupons that I would use. I am glad that they work for some people though. Not every store works for everyone. Happy couponing to all.
