Thanks for sharing this. I have been really convicted lately of the ethics behind what I am eating, especially after reading the newest Christianity Today. You should pick it up if you haven’t read it. It is so hard to eat healthy on a budget though. I appreciate the tips.
I too have struggled with feeding my family of 8 what is wholesome but keeping on a tight budget. We live in Leiper’s Fork and a friend told me recently how she bought 25 baby chicks (quick growing, used for meat) and raised them to process them. The total cost came to about $5 a chicken and it was the easiest thing she’s ever done. I’m pumped up now and ready to do it and fill my freezer come spring. I used to order mine from a farm and paid between $12 and $19 per frozen chicken!!! YIKES! It was like gold, rationing out portions to my family!
Go on Local Harvest and find a local chicken farmer!
