Summer is in full swing, but when it comes to gearing up for Christmas, most publications are far ahead of the rest of us! Southern Living is currently hosting a cover contest challenging readers to create their rendition of a holiday white cake — and the winning recipe will grace the cover of the December issue of Southern Living and win $1,000. Two Runners Up will receive $500 and will have their recipes featured in magazine’s dessert story in December.

I have loved Southern Living since I was 5 years old! I read every issue cover to cover, buying it either from the newsstand or borrowing my mom’s subscription. I love the recipes, the home and garden sections, but mostly I just love how connected it makes me feel to my homeland – the Southeast!

I would love to win this, as I was born & raised in Tennessee & moved to Utah in 1995. I miss the Southern accent, values, down home feel, hospitality & food. I came across an issue of Southern Living in a tire store, of all places, here in Utah & my fiance found me crying in the waiting room looking at the agazine because it made me miss home so much.
