It is fun to be together reading! When reading the Bible aloud and declaring the LORD’s promises for us-we both learn who we are in CHRIST and how extravagantly HE loves us! Amazing!
I really loved this post. It detailed all the aspects of reading to children, even older ones, that I knew and some that I never thought about. I always enjoyed being read to by my mom or others who could read with expression, as a child. Now, I am hoping to pass this love for reading onto my children. I will tell you that it has been easier with my six daughters than with my sons, but I am not letting that deter me. Thanks again for a great post.
New subscriber who found you through a shout-out on the Beauty for Ashes blog. :O)
I also had a mother who read to me and took me to the library. I read to my girls and took them to the library and bought books for presents. They are now grown and love to read. We now have the chance to teach another generation the love of reading. My daughter had a baby boy on Dec. 8, 2012 and she is already reading to him before she puts him to bed at night. Reading a good book is such a joy.
Here’s a great half step towards getting kids interested in reading more. Audiobooks. Not quite as good as actual reading, but it’s a step in the right direction. There’s lots of sites where you can download them for free. Here’s one that we use a lot. http://www.twirlygirlshop.com/stories-for-kids
