Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce
 
Ingredients
  • 1 lb cooked ground beef (or ½ lb ground beef and ½ lb Italian sausage)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 small container sliced mushrooms
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • 16 ounce tomato sauce
  • 12 ounce tomato paste
  • 1-cup water
  • 1½ cups white wine or dry vermouth (optional)
  • 1-2 tsp sugar
  • 32 oz diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1½ teaspoon basil
  • 1½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ tsp. thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
Crock Pot Method
  1. Brown ground beef, then add with all other ingredients and cook for 8-10 hours on low.
Stove Top Method
  1. Cook beef, garlic, onions, peppers, and mushrooms in large stockpot.
  2. Drain fat.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients, bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce and simmer 1 hour or more.
