Ok, I have clipped coupons and now have quite a stack. My question is, what is the best way to organize them. I have been at this for 2 weeks. Seems it takes me all afternoon to go through ads and make my shopping lists. How do YOU organize them? Expiration dates? Categories? Food vs. non food? I am getting lost in this pile! HELP!

2 Kelly February 1, 2012 at 11:43 am: Cindy, there are many different ways to organize your coupons. I file my inserts whole, but have some friends who clip each individual coupon & file them in binders. If you haven’t already, check out the post I did on Coupon Organization (part 1) and Coupon Organization (part 2). I hope that helps answer your question!

I group mine by the products as dedorant, spices garbage bags, shampoos, I made alot of my own groups the smaller the groups the easier it is to find

First: I just want to say, I love your site! I know the answer to my question is probably somewhere in one (or more!) of the couponing articles… but I just moved, so I have a LOT of big shopping trips to do to stock up my kitchen, so I wanted to make sure I figured things out before I get started! I’ve been doing (amateur!) couponing for a while now and I’ve noticed that some stores give you half off a single item (out of a BYGO deal) if you only buy one… whereas, others charge full price and you just miss out on getting the free item if you don’t buy two (which happened to me last night at my new grocery store!) – is it generally one way or another? Or does it really just vary store to store? I picked up the couponing policy at the front of the store, but it just said the names of competitors that they accept coupons from.

Welcome to my site!! It sounds like you found most of the answers you were looking for, but you can always find more answers in my “Getting Started” tab at the top. As far as the Buy One, Get One Free pricing, it varies from store-to-store. For example, Publix BOGOs ring up as 1/2 price in my area, but there are other regions (like Florida) where you have to buy the 1st one at full price & the 2nd one rings up Free. In my region, Kroger & Harris Teeter also ring up at 1/2 price, so you don’t have to buy both. I would recommend asking the Customer Service counter at your local store to verify how they ring up before checking out. Hope that helps!

I always did my shopping at Publix and BOGO’s ring up 1/2 price… which is why I was so confused when I just went shopping at my new grocery store – but, the place I just moved to is Florida! lol That explains it! Hi Kelly!

I read your book this weekend. I really enjoyed it, and it is giving me a lot to think about. I have two questions:
1. Where is the best/cheapest place in Franklin to buy Sunday papers to get the coupon inserts? Is that the best way to get the Sunday coupons?
2. Do you know anyone in the Franklin/Fieldstone area that would like to be my buddy/mentor

What is the best way to get bulk papers? I know some people do because there is a lady here that buys bulk and then sales then for a discounted price to people. I hate to ask where she gets them though and her feel like I’m trying to take over her business she has turned couponing into with her classes and paper sales.
