How To Stockpile Coupons

October 24, 2008

Glad you stopped by! Looking for something? Checkout my Categories and Resources page.

Below are a few ideas on how to begin and quickly get a nice stash of coupons.

1. Subscribe to the Sunday paper: I highly recommend subscribing, this way you are sure to get your Sunday coupon inserts. Many stores sell the Sunday paper on Mondays at a discount. For instance, our local Kroger sells it for $1 on Mondays.

2. Ask friends, family and neighbors for their inserts if they throw them away. A great incentive to have them keep giving you the inserts is to find something for them for free. My mother-in law loves hair color, so I get it for her whenever I get a deal.

3. Recycling Bin: If you go to the paper bin, it is clean and usually has TONS of papers available.

4. Sign up online: You can sign up for newsletters of your favorite products to be sent printable coupons via email. Join all the big company “clubs”, this ensures you are sent email and snail mail coupons. Usually these coupons are better than the ones in the circulars. Be sure to hit the multi-product manufacturers like SC Johnson and Kraft.

5. Store Coupons: Stores like Publix have tons of store coupons in a rounder as you come into the store. Also, sign up your shopper cards on the stores website, it usually gets you store coupons online and in the mail.

6. Blinkie, Catalinas and Peelies: Blinkies are the red boxes on the shelves, catalinas print out after your receipt and peelies are on products. Keep your eyes peeled for all of these!

Kelly, Why do I want to stockpile coupons? Can you use more than one manufactue coupon on an item? I understand stacking one man. and one store.

The only places I have found that will let you use double coupons are Walgreens and Target, for instance last week the frapachinos were on sale at Walgreens and I used the Walgreens coupon for 4 for 5$ and combined it with the 1$ off coupon and used 4 of thoes and I got the frapachinos for .25 cents each. At Target they let you use a Target coupon along with a manufacturers coupon, you can get items realy cheap this way, I’m going tomorow for the seventh generation products, Target had a coupon for 1$ off and then there are manufacurer coupons(printables) out for 1$ off and I will keep my reciept to submit the rebate when you buy 3 you get 5$ off, I’m sure I’ll either make money or at least get them realy cheap. Good Luck couponing!

You want to stockpile coupons so you can buy more of one type of item when it is on sale. So, if Jiffy Peanut butter is on sale and you want 2, you will need 2 coupons to get the best deal. That is often why I have 2 sets of each week’s coupon inserts.

No, you can only use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per item.

Love your blog hope you can help out with this question. I’m new to couponing. I went to Walgreens to buy excedrin which is on sale for 1.99. I have a RR coupon for a $1 and a printable coupon for a $1. I’m only buying this one item. I wasn’t able to get it for free because there was going to be an overage. Should this be?

Yes, what you always need to do if you have an overage, is purchase what you will hear called a “filler” item. Just something small, pack of gum or something that the overage can go towards.

So excited I stumbled across your blog!
Silly question…where can I find paper recycling bins? Where do you typically go?

We just use cardboard boxes then take them and dump out at the recycle center.

Find out when your ads are delivered and check that day at your local PO. Lots of people just throw away their ads. A goldmine of coupons! Clean recyling area!

May I add something. Apart from coupons you can cut from the Sunday paper and those printable coupons, keep an eye on online coupons as well. You are sure to find so many of them most especially on sites dedicated to finding you coupons. They do the hard work of finding coupons for you.

I know this is an old thread, but thought I’d add in another great way I’ve found to stockpile coupons, particularly when the circular is a great one!

I go to the newspaper (printed in our small city) and purchase the Sunday paper ANY day of the week! They keep the extra papers and usually have Sunday papers going back a month or more. I do have to pay full price, but for $10 I can get 8 papers! This helps me keep my stockpile up and I don’t have to do this ‘every’ week.

I’d love to ‘stumble on’ a recycling bin full of inserts, but haven’t found one yet!

Another thing I do is pass on coupons that I don’t use and have found that ‘method’ of sharing is generally reciprocated!

Hi, i am new to your site and love it, i would just like to add that if you are an ebayer, there are lots of people there who sell coupons, you can usually pick up about 100 for less than 4 dollars.
