I have an extra $31.50 to to add back to my budget because once I got home from my shopping trip last week I realized I got charged full price for my market down meat. So, when I went back (after a lot of back and forth) to get my difference in what I should have paid, they ended up giving me the entire amount back!
As you can see below, there were lots of GREAT deals I was able to catch this week, especially at Kroger. I would highly recommend that you check with the stores you frequent and find out when they do markdowns. I happened to arrive this week right as they were marking things down in the bakery. The clerk told me if I saw anything that was today’s date that she would mark it for me. I have lots of whole wheat kaiser hamburger buns for our cookouts this summer. But, when you do bread, be sure to double bag it and rotate it out quickly. I have learned that bread does not stay for a long time, usually about 4-6 weeks then it starts getting freezer burn.
Guess what I will be doing today? You guessed it, doing a little prep for my bananas, strawberries and blueberries and freezing my bread. I really wanted to hit a strawberry farm this year, but I don’t know if it is going to happen. Maybe next week?
So, a recalculation from last week would be $31.26 for all my groceries, versus the $62.76 I posted! Yeah!
Here is how I did this week, and my weekly budget is around $50, so this week (technically) I had about $81.50, not going to use it all, so I will spread it out over the next few weeks!
Total Groceries OOP: $47.40 (Out-of-Pocket)
What great deals did you find this week? Be sure to post your trips and include links to your blog if you took an inventory or pictures.

Hi–do you know of a strawberry farm in our area that is doing pick-your-own right now? The only one I knew of (the one we went to last year)-Vine Hill Farm, I believe, said their crop was killed by the extra rain we had this Spring 🙁 Would love to know if you know of another farm–my boys loved it last year, and we loved the freezer jam I made with our strawberries. THanks 🙂
Wendy
Wendy,
I don’t , anyone else? But, I would love your strawberry freezer jam recipe!!
