How do you retreive coupons from SS from dates that are not current. I saw that Kraft mayo had a coupon on 1/18 but when I went to SS there was not one listed.I am still new at this and trying to pass it on to ladies at my church but I don’t know how to find the best coupons. Thanks for doing this it has already helped my family

I am looking to try one on a Saturday morning. I am just not able to get a facility that doesn’t charge then. I find most moms can’t get childcare on weekdays and that is why I dont’ do those. If you have a big group that can, I would love to teach!

How “regional” are coupons? I was reviewing the match-up on your Home Page and several coupons you list, I didn’t have, or the $ was different. Examples: 3/15 SS No Reach Floss, 3/15 SS Reynolds Wrap Foil 55¢ vs 75¢. Does this happen frequently?

I am going to ask the ladies in our nneighborhood if they would like you to some one evening. We meet every month or so and like to do different things and several of us have heard about you. I am thinking we could easily get 20-30 there if not more… I will send you a note

Hello all. I just wanted to say that a part of stock piling that I have really enjoyed is having food to share with others. When I used to buy food for one week at a time, it was stressful to me to have an unexpected guest at a meal time. I was always having to scramble to find enough food for all. I have been praying for months about the scripture verse 1 Peter 4:9. I wanted the Lord to show me how to be a gracious and hospitible hostess. I didn’t even put my prayer and stock piling together until yesterday when several friends stopped by my house all at the same time. I was so excited to be able to offer them a dilicious lunch from the freezer and my stock piled pantry items. What an answer to prayer!!!

Kelly,
I have asked God to bless you for your coupon ministry! I started “couponing” again a couple of months ago when my husband became so ill. I currently have to work outside my home and do the things my husband use to do around the house. I just simply do not have the time to devote to seeking good deals. You put them all in one basket for me. We thought he might loose his job due to his poor health. We both knew the Lord was whispering to us to put more effort into getting out of debt so if we were to loose his income we would not be so short each month. Long story short, the last two trips for grocery items have been HALF the cost at the register. I immediately knew it was a hug from God. I gave Him the glory and I want to give thanks to you. Again, kudos for your service.
For now, my husband is holding his own. We will know next month if he is to be put on the transplant list or not.
Please continue to keep me on your list! It is a TRUE blessing.

In His Grip,
Julie

I just wanted to let you know that the Kroger in Smyrna, TN on Lowry St. was not tripling coupons and knew nothing about it. I was a little upset but couldn’t do anything about it. I still did good with all the sales and coupons I had. Today I saved 45.50 and got lots of meat deals. People need to know this, go to Kroger after 1:00, but before school gets out….to the meat department they are marking everything down that is already on sale. I get the best deals on Wednesday. Thanks for your web site and God Bless you and your hard work. I love my coupons and my freebies but it is a lot of work and takes a lot of printer ink.

You may already have this information listed on your site and I just haven’t came across it yet, but it would be helpful to have it in the “Getting Started” section.

I have a couple of questions for the pros:

1. Can you use an internet coupon and coupon from the paper on the same item?
Only if one is a manuf and one a store coupon

2. Can you use two coupons for the same product if they are for different amounts off ( ex. $.55 cents off one and $1.00 off two?)
No, only one manuf and one store coupon per item.

3. Can you use two coupons if one is generic and one specifies. (ex. $.55 off spicy chex mix and $.50 and flavor chex)
No, same as 1 and 2

Also, I know Publix will accept competitors coupons. Anyone know of anyone else that takes them?
Thanks!!

I was very surprised today when I was shopping at the McKays mill Publix. They did not let me use more than 1 coupon for more of the same items. It says on every coupon “Limit one coupon per purchase”. So if I want to buy 2 of the same items and I have coupons for both individually, I have to make 2 separate purchases! How in the world can you stockpile with that system? The lady at the cashier actually wanted me to make 8 purchases because I had 8 coupons for the same item. Is that correct?

Kelly-

I don’t know whether anyone has mentioned this in a comment or not, and it’s not technically “couponing”, but it is a money saver. Some stores will give you a discount for using reusable grocery bags instead of their plastic ones.

In my area (Baton Rouge, LA) both Albertsons and Target will give you 5 cents back for every reusable bag you use. You do NOT have to use the ones they sell at their store. Any bag will work, even a regular tote bag from home (just make sure its sturdy enough to carry your groceries).

Also, the Albertson’s near my house offers 10% off your total bill on football game days if you are wearing your (LSU) team jersey (it has to be a football jersey, not just a team t-shirt).

Blessings!

82 Kelly November 3, 2009 at 12:49 pm

Tina, it depends on the store. Most stores go ahead and double them, because that is THEIR discount, not from the manufacturer. However, I find that Harris Teeter DOES NOT DOUBLE or TRIPLE these.

Hi just wondering if anybody has had trouble getting target coupons to scan. I just joined and was so excited to get my first great deal at Target. I downloaded the coupon bar thing and it was on the coupon but it would not scan at Target and they wouldn’t accept them. They said if they wouldn’t scan it was their policy that they didn’t take them. Help! I am so excited but don’t want to be disappointed again!

I just have to say thank you so much for the tips on Krogers tripling coupons!! I went shopping last night to the Green Hills store and I spent $151 for $270 worth of groceries. WoW!! thats a savings of a little over $113. The only thing that was not noted is that they only tripled coupons for the first 20 coupons. So just to let everyone know if Krogers offers this again, only the first 20!!

Love your website. I know you’ve heard it, but I have to add my kudos. Couponing has become not only a money saving activity for my, but also a hobby that I love. The thrill of the hunt, accomplishment, the prize (s). I do well but struggle with where to donate, what to donate, etc. Is there a list of things and places to donate? I am in Franklin, TN.

Hi Kelley
You know I went to Target. Their price guarentee states “Match all local printed competitors ads. The * Says nothing about not honoring 2 day adds or ‘door buster ads’. The * only states “not applicable to Target.com”. Seems to me that you would not just be able to ‘decide’ that they are not going to honor their own guarentee. Seems to me that this would be false advertisement.

Thanks Kelly for the great workshop I attended on Saturday at Two Rivers Baptist church. I really enjoyed it. I couponed back in the 80′s (I’m telling my age)but it is different now with online coupons and double/triple coupons. I wish they had that back then. I had quit but you have encouraged me to start again. I just have to get organized again. Thanks for all you do. Hope you are feeling better soon.

As I am pretty new to couponing, I ran into a situation today that I didn’t quite understand. Kroger had some of their games advertised as buy one get one in their weekly ad. When I went to the store in Brentwood, the game had the original price and then a “yellow tag” sales price that was marked half of the original price. (sale 9.99 per yellow sticker). When I got to the check out, the clerk told me that the 9.99 WAS the buy one get one price. Although it seems to me that 9.99 would be the sale price since that is what I would pay if I bought one. Has anyone run into this before?
Thanks

I need shortcut suggestions. A dear friend of mine learned of this website and is doing great with it. She works only 3 days a week. I work 5 and stay so busy when I do have time off. I would like to take advantage of the savings but find it hard to stay on the computer in my off hours long enough to really prosper from this the way my friend does. Her savings are tremendous and she has even tutored me on how she saves. I do not have the luxury of time to take advantage of every deal. I just need to save on the items that Iwould use normally. How can I do this without spending hours online with this. The demand on my time to take advantage is frustrating me totally! Time is money!

Another problem I have had is with the downloadables on my Kroger card numbers. I have 3 numbers (mine, my husband’s, and my son’s) that I have tried to download to, even using my phone number and have had no success. They tell me that the numbers are already in use. How could someone else have my personal numbers??? Help!

Reply

102 Kelly November 27, 2009 at 10:56 am

Holli,
If it is telling you they are already in use (Loadable coupons), you probably already registered them. Just use the password retrieval (if asked) to login, or login in with your normal settings. It should let you in.

Your searching online shouldn’t be too much. You can just use the deals I list and stick with those to save you time. I publish the BEST deals, not every deal. This is to save time for my readers, I scour many money saving blogs to find the absolute best deals, so you don’t have to spend hours doing it.

For instance, check out my Publix or Kroger posts to see the best deals with coupon match-ups for your store. All you need to do is print the list, determine what you want, pull the coupons and go!

I hope this helps you out. The goal for my work is to make it as easy as possible for you. All you have to do is cut coupons, determine your list and shop!

Have a great Thanksgiving!
Kelly

The CC company said that they think VistaPrint was hacked and CC #’s stolen. So, I just wanted to send this as a heads up for anyone who ordered from them to keep an eye on their CC statements.

I ask because sometimes target and kroger have those prinatble coupons and i noticed that you write that you can use some of the target ones outside target such as the kellogs coupon. I just want to know how can we determine which coupons from target or anywhere else can be used for other grocery stores.

Mary – A manufacturers coupon (states it on the coupon) is supposed to be able to be used at any store that takes coupons. Even if it says a retailer’s name on it, like Target, but it also says “manufacturer coupon”, it is just that.

Kelly,

I just wanted to thank you for all of your work and suggestions. I am involved in a ministry located in West Nashville that serves the school-aged children of a low-income neighborhood and their families. Tomorrow I will be heading out with some other volunteers to shop for food for a holiday basket for one of the families. Knowing that this was approaching, I started collecting items that were free or nearly free during my weekly shopping trips. All totaled, I spent about $5 and was able to get:

5 boxes/bags of instant potatoes
3 cans tomato sauce
3 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1 box hot chocolate
2 bags cookie mix
1 bottle canola oil
2 cans of Pineapple

to include in the basket. I probably could have done a little better, but I am pretty new to this. I have only been following your suggestions since mid-November.

THANKS for all you are doing!

Me too! Kelly thank you! I’m new to this – started in November but I too have a huge bag of goodies to donate to my favorite charity this Christmas – cleaning supplies, Swiss hot chocolate, cans of soup, fruit – lots of the instant potatoes. Everything was free or under $1. I hope the Halfway house I’m taking this to gets on board and starts couponing for themselves too – to cut the ministries cost for supplies. For my own encouragement – I come home and write with my sharpy the orginal cost then what I paid for it under it. So, they too will see what I paid for the items through couponing. Thanks Kelly! Merry Christmas!

Yes, you can use a coupon like $1/2 if the item is BOGOF, because usually that makes them 50% off.

LOVE your site. I am new to the idea of stockpiling. Until about 4 months ago, I’d just go to the store once a week and buy what we needed. I’m saving so much in the long run, but of course it takes a little cash to build it up. We definitely have plenty of household supplies to last a few months, more for some things. And I could not go to the store for several weeks and we’d eat well. My question for you is, at what point do you feel your stockpile is sufficient? And do you ever step back and take a break from it? I’m just trying to figure out when others make the break from building a stockpile, and move to adding to it weekly with a set budget amount. Thanks for all you do!

Hi Kelly,

I am relatively new to couponing (where has this been all of my life!). I have two question for about coupon policies as it is important to me to have integrity through the whole process.

#1 Can a coupon be used up through the expiration date? Meaning, if my coupon says, “expires 4/30/2010″, may I still use it all day on the 30th or did it expire once the calendar turns the date on the coupon?

#2 Since the printable coupons allow you to print one, but also allow you to print a second time – should you print two since the “backup” was intended to help you in case their was an error with the first printing (I read that in the coupon.com policy). And I guess I have a part b to this question that I just thought of. Is the printable coupon considered per person or per computer? May I also print coupons from my husband’s laptop?

I guess what I am asking is whether or not ethically I should only be using one coupon from the printable websites? It would be great to be able to use multiples for coupons that I can get when I buy the newspaper in my area. But, what do you do?

I am so blessed by the Lord’s very evident work through you. Thank you for allowing him to use you!

God bless you!

152 Kelly April 30, 2010 at 6:37 am

Denise, great questions! Here are answers…

1. Yes, you can use a coupon on 4/30, but not on 5/1.
2. You can print two per computer. It is okay to print from multiple computers if you have them. They have to put a limit, b/c it is part of their marketing budget, so once all the allotted coupons are printed, that is when the campaign of printing that coupon is over, make sense?

Also, see my post on Couponing Ethics, that will help you out too!!

Kelly,
I saw an earlier post where you were willing to do a daytime workshop if childcare was provided. I’d like to discuss maybe doing one at LHBC for our moms group, iMom, sometime next year. Would love to hear back from you!
Thanks so much!

Dear Ainsley,
I hope your birthday was a happy day. I sat by your mama on the airplane Thursday afternoon. She was disappointed to not be able to be with you ALL day, but she showed me pictures of you and your brother. She told me how smart you are and that she loves you both very much.

Thank you for sharing your mom with me last Thursday. I enjoyed sitting with her and hearing about your family and her work. It sounds like God has made you a very talented little girl. I’ll be excited to hear about how He will use you as you grow up.

Because of Christ,
Marci in Colorado.

Kelly,

I found your site a few months ago through some ladies that attend 1st Baptist Church in Clarksville. I have saved so much money with coupons! I can’t imagine how much money I have wasted over the years! I am the Women’s Ministry Director at my church and I am interested in doing a coupon workshop for our group. Would you be available for that? If so, could you give me more information on what you do in the workshop?

Hi Kelly,
I moved away from Franklin two weeks ago and now I feel lost. I’m in Columbia, Mo and the grocery stores here are different. I’ve tried to find a site like yours here, but have had no luck so far. Any suggestions for how to find one? I can still use the drugstore deals b/c they’re the same.
Thanks for all your help for the past 2 years!

Hey Kelly! I met you once at a seminar you held at Fellowship Bible. I have been couponing for over a year now, have saved a ton of money and been blessed to be able to give away a lot of what I have purchased – Thank you for helping me change my life. My mother in law helps mentor women at Morningstar a battered women’s shelter in north Nashville with another group of women who are in the middle of changing their lives. She asked me if I could share my knowledge of couponing/saving money with the women at the shelter. I feel like I just have touched the tip of the iceberg with what I know. I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a seminar? They do helpful seminars once a month on the 4th Thursday night. Thanks for your consideration to this.

Kelly,
I have a question about the coupon database. I know it’s not your own so I’m not complaining to you, but I am frustrated and hope you can help. I get really frustrated when your’s or another blog site mentions a coupon in one of the sunday inserts and I pull the insert only to not find the coupon. I know that some coupons are regional so, for a while I just chalked it up to “not my region.” But it is happening quite frequently. I love the Iheartpublix blog – found her from you, and usually this is where I run into coupon problems. Do you know about Michelle’s buddy’s page Zeal for a Deal? Love it! I can’t wait for the next food drive at FBC to put my huge box out behind the car! Anyway – right now I am looking for a Keebler coupon that the database says is in the 6/6 RP. Can you help me figure out why I can’t find coupons? Thanks for your time and your help!

Kelly,
You mentioned that you go to a farm to buy your eggs. Where do you go and what price do you get? I know farm fresh eggs are the best.

We just go to a local farmer we found and it is around $2.00 per dozen for free-range, but not organic.

first off let me start out by saying i love your blog. thank you so much for all the great information and time that you share with each of us. you have made a big difference in mine and my families life. since i am still new at couponing i have stumbled upon a big question….what do you do with your expired coupons? i’ve heard people can send them to military families over sea, but can you not just give them to some one you know personally in the military here close to home? if so how do they get to use them?

I have noticed in other cities information about giving expired coupons to military families. They are allowed to use coupons that are expired 6 months? There are places in Chattanooga to donate expired coupons but I cannot find anywhere in the Nashville area to do so. Can you help with this inormation?
Thanks so much!

I was thinking earlier this year you had a grocery spending tracker spreadsheet on here? Can you let me know if you have anything like this on your blog. I searched and couldn’t find it. Thank you.

Hi Kelly! I just wanted to tell you that my mom, sister, and myself really enjoyed your presentation at Hillcrest a couple of weeks ago! You have such a gift! Thank you for sharing your gift!!! I also wanted to tell you that I made your slow cooker lasagna and my husband said it was the best lasagna he has ever eaten! I made your chicken enchiladas a few weeks ago and they were a huge hit as well! I am so excited to have your recipe box as my new go-to for tasty, simple, reasonable meals for my family to enjoy!!! Today, whenever I’ve tried to access your Nashville-specific Web site, it sends me to google.com instead. Why is it not possible to view the Nashville site?

I appreciate what you do!

Hi Kelly, I wanted to share with you and your readers a very cool website where you can chose a thank you card designed by a child and Xerox will print and send it on your behalf to a US military person serving overseas during the holidays. The site is easy to use and you can pick from one of their messages or write your own for the inside of the card. Let’s all take time to say thanks during the holidays to our soldiers who are separated from their families!

Let’s Say Thanks

Thanks for the article on couponing being your god. I just dropped out of my 2 coupon trading groups and unsubscribed from many of the emails I was getting. I kept my favorites. I’m going to spend less time on the computer searching for deals. Thanks for helping me keep everything in perspective!

Kelly,
My wife and I are both retired and live modestly, we hope, and have a generous income. The income is such that we should be saving at least a little every month but seem to end up with the same balance each month. I listen to Dave when ever possible and love his advice! I was wondering if he a budget system for retired folks like us or a dvd we could purchase?

I didn’t know if you have already posted about this but PUBLIX is offering a $10 Publix gift card with any $100 grocery purchase. The coupon is available on a tear pad in the store coupon shelves. Just wanted to pass this along. Every little bit helps!
