What is Weekly Wrap-Up?
Weekly Wrap-Up is a post I do every Saturday to show you what I got this week for $40 for my family of four. My $40 a week budget includes all food, toiletries and cleaning supplies, it does not include eating out. (I do not include diapers and coffee in this budget, it is separate!)
I am still in my stockpile mode, so we are continuing to increase our budget over a few more weeks (this is stockpile season for me and you too!). I am not setting an absolute number for these weeks, but I am trying to keep it under $65/week. I barely hit it this week, coming in around $66!
The meat deals have been so good, I am excited to have a nice stash going for the fall. My hubby hit Harris Teeter for me this week to get lots of butt roast and ribs on sale, he is getting good — he walked away with over 50% savings without even using a coupon!!
We do a lot of entertaining each week at our home (we love it) and this allows me to make some nice, healthy and great tasting dishes for such a low cost. So, know that our budget doesn’t just include our food, but food we entertain friends and family with. This is very important to us.
How about you, do you have a separate budget for entertaining or hospitality? Do you keep it the same? I would love to hear your thoughts on sticking to your budget and stretching it for these types of things. Leave me a comment.
Total Groceries OOP: $66.27
What great deals did you find this week? Be sure to post your trips and include links to your blog if you took an inventory or pictures.

New to your site, and I love it! Recently joined the SAHM crew this past July, and trying to adjust our life to a 1 income household. I’m trying to go through your site for all your tips, but I have a question. How long is the stock pile season? And when does it start and end?
Thanks,
Ang
Ang,
Stockpile season varies month to month. For me the last few weeks have been great for convenience foods and meats. Now we are starting to get into the holiday season and even this week I am seeing flour and butter on great sales. I typically use part of my budget each week (smaller portion) for my needs and the rest to stockpile the really good deals. My weekly meals come from previous weeks great deals. I plan out of my freezer and pantry so each week a majority of my budget can go towards the “best deals” rather than okay prices to round out my menu.
Hi,
Just curious where you get the Kroger store coupons? In the paper? I don’t think I have ever seen these.
I have a question about buying meats on sale, since I’m new at this. I looked at the Harris Teeter ad online, and it seems like you got an even better deal on your meats based on your total price since you mentioned not using coupons there. Was there a manager special? Are there times of the week when they put meat on even more of a sale like they do in the bakery?
Katherine, I get Kroger store coupons in a mailer addressed to me, specifically. I signed up on their website and am a plus card member. It seems that my coupons are tailored to purchases I’ve made in the past. For example, I get a lot of coupons for free baby carrots because I buy them regularly.
Anybody have any suggestions on prioritizing your stockpiles? I have limited space in my pantry and freezer.
Katherine – I get my Kroger store coupons in the mail mostly. Visit their website and register, this will ask for your Kroger Plus Card number and mailing address, that should get you started!
Jennifer- Harris Teeter just happened to be having a GREAT sale on meat. The Boston Butt Roast was in the ad for $.88/lb limit of 4/customer and the Country Style Ribs were in our ad for $1.29/lb too. It is not in my weekly rotation, but when the sales are that good, I make extra trips – in this case my hubs did!
MagMom – I prioritize my stockpile according to what we will actually use the most and what costs the most. I tend to try to get freebies or cheap deals on the convenience foods (makes my life easier), but the items I don’t use as much that aren’t as pricey, I just purchase “as needed”. I hope this helps.
How, can I use the coupons the only stores I have in my town is Walmart & Piggly Wiggly.
