The Kroger in Green Hills has gone up to $1.75 for the Sunday paper, as opposed to the .99 cents they have been charging. Do you have any suggestions on where to get a better price of newspapers? We buy 3 each week, and that really adds up!
Yay! I’m finally able to print Target coupons even from Windows7. It’s a good day.

As a result of this article in the the Tennessean on Jan 2, 2010, Kroger is no longer accepting printable coupons of any sort:
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20100102/FEATURES01/1020301/9-ways-to-identify-fraudulent-coupons
The cashier (Kroger in North Nashville) informed me of this new policy when I checked out this evening. She sited a photo copy of the hard copy of this article. She told me that all of the cashiers have copies at their registers and that this new policy applied to all Kroger stores.
Anyone else have this experience?
Franklin – I haven’t had this experience. I hope that all the Kroger stores will not be doing this! There is a website you can verify any coupons you question if they’re fraudulent:
http://www.cents-off.com/body_coupon_counterfeiters.cfm
I have had a few Kroger’s give me a hard time about printable coupons. I wouldn’t doubt if they will no longer accept them. It’s completely silly, though. They are directly from the manufacturer!
My Kroger had a close out special on the Snuggle All Small and Mighty for $2.86 , I was able to use the $2 q and it only cost me .86 cents! May check your Kroger…it may not be at all!
I used printable coupons today at Kroger in Nashville (Nipper’s Corner) and did not have an issue – hope it stays this way!
CVS has also started charging the full $1.75 for newspapers – any ideas where to get them cheaper??
Lastly….Rice, Corn, and Wheat Chex Cereals are on sale for $1.99 at Kroger. I had a coupon that was $1 off 2 boxes PLUS there was a $3.00 off coupon on the cereal box if you buy three boxes. Iwas able to get 6 boxes for 50 cents each!!!
Above comment…..sorry, actually I had three $1 off 2 boxes that I combined with two of the $3.00 coupons from the boxes, that’s how I got them for 50 cents a box. Sorry I wasn’t clearer about that. :o)
I used printable coupons at the Kroger in Brentwood (Franklin Rd) yesterday. The cashier I had was TERRIBLE & gave me a lot of grief, but it was only b/c she was uninformed. I had 4 items & 4 coupons. She said I could only use 1 coupon. I simply let her finish my transaction & then took my receipt & coupons over to Customer Service & they accepted my printables with no problem and gave me my money back.
Amy – I was at the CVS in Smyrna (Sam Ridley) and they have a big sign in their window that says Sunday papers $1. But, all the Kroger stores sell the Sunday paper all week long for $1. I would call ahead of time b/c some of the stores are routinely out.
I just saw Harris Teeter is going to be doing Super Doubles starting tomorrow. Any idea of Kroger is going to match this? Also, I haven’t been to my Kroger in several weeks. Anyone know if the Old hickory/Nolensville Rd is accepting printable coupons?
Emily,
What are Super Doubles?
Thanks!
Newspaper idea….
Since my local Kroger and CVS are charging full price now for the paper, I have asked several of my neighbors that get the paper if I can have their coupons (if they don’t use them of course) and they have been happy to give them to me!! Right now I’m getting three papers a week for free!!
Emily – Kroger normally doesn’t announce if they will participate until the morning of Super Doubles. I would assume the “normal” Krogers will be participating, but I would call them on Wednesday morning to confirm.
Amy – Super Doubles are when they double all manufacturer’s coupons up to $1.98 (hence, doubling the $.99 amt). This is when it’s a good time to use your $1 & $1.50 coupons. At Harris Teeter, you can only Super double 20 coupons per DAY. At Kroger, they Super double 20 per TRANSACTION and most of them allow you to do multiple transactions back-to-back.
just called kroger on franklin rd. woman i talked to said they may not do super doubles today b/c its senior day and the snow threat they don’t want to run out of things and not be able to honor the coupons….she said to call back tomorrow….if anyone hears differently pls post….
Honeybee: Sad to say our Bellevue Kroger has followed suit with the $1.75 sunday paper. Our Dollar Tree has Sunday papers for $1.00 but they are always out by the time I get to them. In the past, Kroger had them for $1.00 on Mondays, although there was no guarantee that any would be left! Grrrr!
We have the $1.00 delivery for a year but I always buy 2 more.
Susannah- have you heard if Kroger will double yet? Thanks!
jim,
i haven’t heard yet….i didn’t give them a call today b/c i’ve got 3 kids home from school and wasn’t about to take a 5, 4 and 3 year old to the store with me on Super doubles day…I did end up going to Harris Teeter in Brentwood yesterday and got some deals.
Is anyone having problems with this weeks coupons……being from target website? They are saying that they do not accept competitors coupons!! What a Bummer.
Let me know.
Thanks
Mandy – Technically those coupons should work, because they are manufacturers, but it is at the discretion of the store. I might try to ask at Customer Service when you go to the store, before checkout.
