I have been searching for information on coupons handed to me at grocery stores along with my receipt. In the “lingo” above, you call this Catalina? Anyway, the ones I am talking about will have the store’s name also printed on them, so I would only use these at the appropriate store. One day I was in line at Safeway and overheard the cashier tell the customer that these are manufacturer’s coupons and can be used anywhere, regardless of what store is named on the coupon. This goes along with what you said, but Albertsons is tell me no, I can only use the ones that say Albertsons on them. Do you think this was just a misunderstanding on the part of the cashier or are there different store policies? Thank you!
Lea,
Yes, those are called “catalinas”. Technically you are supposed to be able to use any manufacturer coupon at any store, it can vary by store. I would call their corporate and verify that this is their corporate policy and not just a misunderstanding on the part of the cashier. It sounds like a misunderstanding to me though!
I noticed an acronym “SCR” but could not find it in your list. I would appreciate it if you would add this one. Thanks!
Marcia,
SCR means the Single Check Rebates at RiteAid. I added it to the list, thanks so much for the heads up!!
I was reading your email this am about Publix. But I don’t know what “yellow advantage buyer flyer” is I found it but do I have to print the Pam coupon?
Kelly,
I have been reading your emails for a year now and really have not started any couponing or meal planning regimin out of fear of implementing something new to an already overwhelming schedule. I just signed up for your Feb. 13th class because I have four kids and HAVE to get our grocery budget under control and start saving money through coupons and meal planning. Will your program also work with healthy eating and a mostly vegatarian diet?
Michele – My goal is to feed my family the healthiest food I can on our $40 a week budget. We have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, but I prepare some meals from scratch a lot too. We review all that in the class. And being a vegetarian, you won’t have the added meat expenses we do! Can’t wait to see you there!
I am trying to figure out which stores do coupons on what days…. Like when does Kroger do the triple coupon? same with Publix? When do the stores do double coupon day? I cant seem to find this anywhere on their websites and when i call the store I get a different answer everytime
PLease help I really want to join the fun of saving money
Courtney – Here is the breakdown. Stores that double, typically do it EVERY day, if they have a store loyalty card, you must scan that first for the computer to double them. You dont’ have to do anything, you just hand them over and the ones $.50 and under automatically double. You need to check your stores coupon policies to make sure, but that is how it is done in our area. Good luck!
What do you mean when you say flip?
I am from Md. I do not think we have Kroger here but do yo know where the closses one is to here or what store does those kind of deals ? Also I am new at all of this and I am so overwhelmed
Is and internet printable and a manufacturer coupon the same? One or the other could be paired with a store coupon but not both?? Thanks for this wonderful site with a world of information for myself who is less than fortunate at understanding the whole coupon process!

This is a great resource! I have two questions. 1. a roommate tried to print a coupon from the same computer and printer, although they registered separate and had a separate email address the coupon would not print and said you already have got the coupon. Do you know why? 2. Is there a resource that tells what catalinas (or rewards that print after the fact) are available weekly from Kroger? Thanks a bunch, cp
thanks for the wonderful tips. i find very useful in my household.
I love going to Publix since they let me stack a Manuf Q and a Store Q for one item. I am trying to find out if Kroger and Food Lion will do the same. I cannot find their coupon policies online and when I call the stores, the person is not sure. Do you know? thanks!
Today at Kroger I tried to use a manufacturer’s coupon on Tide and the cashier told me I could not use it because an e-coupon had already been applied. The e-coupon was only for 35 cents and my paper coupon was for $1 so I asked her to remove the e-coupon and use the paper one but she could not do that. Have you ever encountered this?
In the future I will be much more careful about which coupons I load on my Kroger card…..
I hear everyone talking about doubling and tripling coupons? I don’t understand that meaning. Also, the research that I have done on it says only state that does no allow double coupons is florida, where I live at. Can you please explain this whole process to me.
Cynthia, checkout my Harris Teeter Store Policy and Tips page to help you out.
Could you explain ‘Rolling”? I don’t understand what it means to roll your money over to the next transaction.
Thank-you!
I still don’t understand what this means. I’d love if anyone can explain.
Thank-you!
Laura – Which abbreviation doesn’t make sense to you? These are for commonly used acronyms on coupon and deal blogs.
Hi ~ I’m unclear about “Rolling” also. I usually see “Rolling” alongside particular manuf Qs (like in the coupon database)…maybe referring to a type of ongoing deal? But this doesn’t seem to correspond to the explanation in the lingo listed above.
thanks for the site & all you do! God bless you!
what does the abbriviation FF mean?
Could you use it in an example? Where did you see it?
I was just reading one of the emails and it has on there MIR and I was just wondering what the abbreviation stood for.
Thanks
MIR stands for Mail In Rebate
I’m new to all of this and just started using coupons. I have a coupon for $.80 off four Hamburger Helpers they were on sale for $.99 ea if you bought 10. So does that mean I get $.80 off four or $.80 off each?
Thanks for your help
Sasha – welcome to the site! In your example, you will get $.80 when you buy 4 (so, basically $.20 off each box – you have to buy 4 at once in order to use the coupon). So, they would end up being $.79 each when you buy 4. Hope that helps!
That clears up alot of things on numerous coupons. Thank you so much.
