I don’t know about you, but I have to have some sort of a plan for my daily quiet time or it doesn’t happen. If I know before I get up, or sit down, that I don’t have a plan, I am more likely to put it off and never get it done. Personally, that starts my day off on the wrong foot. My kids can even tell. One time I had irritable exchange with my daughter and she gently asked me if I had my quiet time yet! Wow! Even the little ones can tell. That was so convicting.
I started off this year’s devotional journey in January with Whispers of Hope: 10-weeks of Devotional Prayer by Beth Moore. I absolutely loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed sitting down each morning for my quiet time with this book. She would start each day with a scripture reading and then a page overview of how I could apply that scripture to my own life. I loved that!
The book is laid out as a prayer journal for you to document your journey. I am not one for writing in books because I usually share them with my friends and family. Instead, I opted to use my prayer journal for my writing. However, the book is laid out beautifully and has jagged torn edges that make it look old. It would make a great graduation or wedding gift for someone.
Of all the devotionals I’ve used and documented about over the years, this one has gotten the most interest from readers by-far. E V E R Y post I made after my devotional time about this book on my Instagram or Facebook pages got tons of responses from readers wanting to know what I was using. That just goes to show you this book is that good!
One of my very favorite mornings was Day Forty-Five. The message was around John 5:17 “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” See the excerpt above.
