I am so excited to tell you about my new Healthy Living on a Budget series! My goal with Faithful Provisions is to teach you how to save money and live generously. In the past 6 months, I have been feeling the Lord call me to saving money while trying to keep my family healthy and strong. The Bible tells us our bodies are a temple and we are to care for them properly so we can fully execute the Lord’s work in our lives. For my family, feeding them healthy, unprocessed, whole foods is one of the ways I can do that.
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. ~ I Corinthians 6:19
I am going to make a disclaimer here: I am not a health expert. In addition, I am not going to totally change our lifestyle. All that to say, the content here on Faithful Provisions will not change but I will put a more deliberate emphasis on healthy living. My intent for the Healthy Living on a Budget series is to show you how we are slowly incorporating healthy lifestyle changes into our families routine. I’ll share with you where I started, and where I plan to go. I’ll share what we find, how we prepare it, and why we feel this is a healthier option.
All the things you have come to expect from Faithful Provisions will still be here: great deals and mouth-watering recipes! This new series will be an additional offering, in the hopes that if you are pursuing a more healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family, you will find the information you need here!
We will not be going fully organic, but I am moving towards a higher percentage of organic and natural products into our diet, as our budget allows. (And I find coupons for!)
The Healthy Living on a Budget series will include some of the following topics:
- Removing white wheat, processed, artificial flavors and colors out of our diet
- Using sugar alternatives
- How to optimize coupons while eating healthy
- *NEW* Price List for Organic and Natural Foods
- Using new appliances – Grain Mill, Food Dehydrator, Breadmachine, Pressure Cookers
What topics would you like to see covered in the Healthy Living on a Budget series? Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts and ideas on how I can make this series work for you.
This is a GREAT addition to your site. This has been my biggest challenge with coupons…. finding organic, healthy options. Thank you so much for adding this!
This is very exciting. I can’t wait to see more. I would love to see some made-from-scratch recipes. For example, I typically buy brownie mix already in the box because it is a convenience but I would love to find a recipe to make this from scratch with things I already have. That way I can BE SURE there is nothing in there that doesn’t need to be. Ok, maybe brownies wasn’t the healthiest example. 🙂
It may not be the healthiest, but they sure are good! We will still be eating a few unhealthy indulgences, it’s all about moderation!!! 🙂
We find ourselves at the same place in life! I want to do things healthier but with 6 kids we definitely need to stick to a budget! I am just now trying to find things that we can eat that don’t have artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. I would love to see lists of these kind of foods. I am trying to find some fun “treats” that we can eat that don’t have these ingredients. While not super healthy I just discovered that plain Lays potato chips only have potatoes and oil… no weird stuff. So I think it would be cool to have some lists of foods that are free of artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. Curious to learn more about sugar alternatives that aren’t artificial too! I need to learn more about that!

I love that you are doing this. I raised 3 sons who are all grown now and I follow your site all the time and have recommended yours to them as many of the other sites only give savings for processed food. Cooking from scratch with does take that much time and is so much healthier. It is also so much less expensive than processed foods.
Yeah! This is exactly what I’m looking for. Definitely want to hear/read ideas for removing the artificial food out of our diet and going more natural. I’ve started a little here and there but helps a LOT to get ideas from others. Thanks for putting this together!
I am SO exicted to take this journey with you!

I was SO excited to read this post!! I have been on this journey for the past 7 months and find many of the couponing blogs have not been. Happy to see you will be there to help!
Kelly,
This is wonderful. I feel the same way you do and want to make my body and my family healthier. Michael Pollan (Food Rules, Food Inc., The Omnivore’s Dilemna) has a great website and also great books about the industrialization of food and how we can avoid it. I find his writing fascinating and eye-opening. Thanks for doing this.
Kelly, This could not come at a better time! Have just been reading about consuming less processed, more organic options and wondering how to fit this into our family budget. This will be an extremely helpful addition to your site. I have followed your site for about a year now and have learned so much. I look forward to reading these additional tips!
Really excited for you to start doing this! Have you read the hallelujah diet book yet? It is christian based eating plan that I believe in. Would love to see you have coupons tips and recipes that go with that sort of thinking!
