Have you taught your children the Pledge of Allegiance yet? There is no time like the present, and I thought I would share with you a little trivia about how our flag was crafted. My daughter really enjoyed hearing the symbolism behind each element of our flag.
The Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.
Symbolism of The United States Flag
Did you know that each stripe and each color in the flag has a significance? Here is a little trivia you might enjoy:
- white signifies purity and innocence
- red signifies valor
- blue represents perseverance, vigilance and justice
- stars are a symbol of the heavens and the divine goals to which we aspire
- the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun
