- Turkeys: Many stores run promos for a free turkey when you meet certain purchase requirements- watch the ads (Harris Teeter has a great sale every year with turkeys as low as $0.39/lb)! Also, after Thanksgiving they deeply discount the extra birds.

- Produce: Sweet potatoes and root veggies
- Canned goods: broth, veggies, soups, condensed and evaporated milk
- Baking supplies of all kinds, including staples like flour and sugar
