This week I am definitely doing much better on the grocery shopping front, but I went a little over my clearance shopping budget for January. I give myself a hefty budget for clearance deals in January, it is much larger than my December budget. I don’t mind spending a nice chunk here, because it save me LOTS of money, but also time and no headaches when birthdays or baby showers roll around quickly! I just go to my gift closet and see what I have.
I headed to Target and Old Navy clearances (boy am I tired, I am glad this is only two times a year!) and got lots of great things I will need for the upcoming months, shoes and slippers (for the whole family!), birthday presents for my husband, kids, & birthday parties: TOYS, clothes, lunch coolers, and more!
I did great at sticking to a menu plan (even though the meals changed around), so I didn’t have to make one trip to the grocery other than the one last Sunday…Yeah!!! That is huge for me, b/c I usually at least go one or two times to grab something I forgot and always end up impulse buying things I don’t need. What helped is that all the meals I made I had all items on hand in my freezer, pantry of fridge. I LOVE stockpiling!
My trip to Publix got me $77.12 worth of groceries for only $ 32.47!!! A few things I got for free were the Johnson’s Buddies Soaps, Worcestershire, and sweet potatoes. There were great deals on the Puerdue Short Cuts (which I froze to use in Chicken Tortilla soup), Boneless Chx Breasts, deli meat and produce.
I also dropped in at Rite Aid this week. I have never shopped there before, but see my post here about the deals I got there. It included $50 in gift cards w/ prescription transfers and I got a bunch of diapers/wipes w/ it, which is why my out of pocket was $0!!
Here is my shopping overview: Week of January 11th
- Publix: $32.47 (much better than last week!)
- Rite Aid: $ 0.00 out-of pocket!
- Total Spend: $ 32.47
- Budget Left for January: $42.30
