Q & A Friday: What to do when an eCoupon doesn’t work

on December 3, 2010 · 1 Comment

Reader Dana asks:

I load coupons on my Kroger card and I use printable and manufacturer’s coupons.  When I visited Kroger last week, I noticed they did not use my ecoupons on my card.  Why is that?  Do they only use the printables, first, when you have them?  Why can’t I use both?

Kroger’s coupon policy is that you can use one store and one manufacturer coupon per item. If the paper coupon and the ecoupon are both manufacturer coupons, you can only use one of them.

If you found that one was a store and the other a manufacturer and it still didn’t reduce your bill with the ecoupon, I would recommend stopping at customer service and asking there. I find they will usually return the price of the coupon to me if I have printed out my list of coupons that are loaded on my card.

Or, you can call the number on the back for your Kroger Plus Card for verification.

I don’t know if this will help or not: I always use self check-out. When you are done scanning your items, you push the pay button and all the ecoupons come off. Then it asks if I have coupons and I say yes and scan them (or give them to the cashier – depending on the store). I never have a problem this way. I don’t know if you are going through a regular check-out if you could just ask your cashier to hit the subtotal button before you hand over your coupons.
