Did you know that 35 million Americans are hungry or living on the brink of hunger?
Just a reminder that Stamp Out Hunger is TODAY – Saturday May 9th. It is a food drive, so you can place bags of nonperishable food items by your mailbox and your mail carrier will pick them up and take them to the food bank. All you need to do is put them on a bag and place the bag by your mailbox. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
I want to urge you to participate, because in being blessed so abundantly with all these deals, there are many who don’t know this way of shopping. This is an easy way to give back when our wallets are tight!
How to help:
- Contact your local post office to verify its participation in the food drive. ( Search the USPS website for the contact information for your local post office.)
- Place bags filled with non-perishable food items next to your mailbox.
- Your letter carrier will pick them up and deliver them to local food banks!
Suggested donations include canned meat and fish, canned soup, pasta, juice, canned vegetables, cereal and rice. They ask that you do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers.
So, what types of items did you stock up on to give today??
I culled my cereal collection a bit. How many boxes of Glucerna and Banana Nut Cheerios can one family eat. I’m so glad that it will go to a great cause.
I loved this!! I went through my stockpile and picked out things I felt overstocked on!!
