To say these are amazing is an understatement – can’t you tell by looking at them? My husband came home to pick one up while he was out getting work done. I have eaten one, and am holding myself back from going over to get another while I am writing this!
If you have a bread machine, you have to try these, they are the easiest recipe and mouthwatering. I made two round pans, meaning to freeze one, but we have some friends who do a lot of our design work and my husband surprised them with some this afternoon at the office. This recipe was adapted from the one Crystal posted from a reader, so here is my version.
- 1⅛ cup warm milk (heat in microwave for 30 seconds)
- 3 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 egg, plus 2 egg whites, beaten
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups bread flour
- 2½ cups white flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons bread machine yeast
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons milk
- 1¼ cups confectioners sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter, very soft (optional)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- Put all dough ingredients into the bread machine in the order listed above, and run on your machine’s dough cycle. Takes approximately 1½ hours.
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees, and when dough cycle is finished, roll the dough out onto a floured surface in a rectangular shape. Mine was about 12×24 inches.
- Top with filling: Spread melted butter over top, then mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly onto rolled out dough. (Be sure not to mix butter and sugar mixture together first, it clumps.)
- Roll dough up lengthwise.
- Keep cutting each piece in half until you have 16 pieces total. Place into two greased round pie pans, 8 pieces per pan (with one in the middle).
- Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While in the oven make the icing. Spread the icing over the top immediately after you remove them from the oven.

Note: You can store unbaked rolls in the refrigerator overnight for a breakfast meal. These freeze really well, so you can bake the second and freeze it. You can also freeze uncooked rolls. Be sure to fully thaw before you bake.

These were delicious–I just made them this morning–my husband thanks you too!
made these for easter! huge hit!
What bread machine do you use or recommend?
I have made many times since you first posted the recipe and my family absolutely loves them!!! Now I am excited to use my bread machine!
I don’t have bread flour, so can I just use white flour…actually will white whole wheat flour work?!?
AWESOME! Made these today and I can’t believe how yummy these are. Mine made 24 rolls and gave half to family and they loved them also. Thanks for the GREAT recipe :0)
Can I use whole wheat flour instead of the white flour and if so how much?
I just made these by hand (no bread machine). Took a lot more flour but they are pretty good!
Made these yesterday for the first time and they are AWESOME and so easy. 🙂 I’ve made a couple more batches to freeze for later. 🙂
I only have a mini bread machine that makes small loaves, any suggestions for making them without the bread machine? Can I mix the dough, knead by hand and let is rise in a warm place? how long?
These were fantastic and perfect for Christmas morning! Thanks for the recipe!
So glad you enjoyed them!
