If you are one of those people who always sends out Christmas cards, there are probably several reasons why you do it. I can think of at least five reasons that it’s part of our Christmas tradition. It’s not to late to start your own tradition of sending out cards this Christmas.
1. Keep in touch with Christmas Cards. The years go by quickly, so even if all you have time to do is drop a Christmas greeting in the mail, that’s a great way to keep in touch. You stay up-to-date on people’s real addresses (not just virtual), and they keep up with where you are as well. Whether you include school pictures or send a photo card, family and friends enjoy seeing how much everyone has grown and changed from year to year.
2. It’s a photo record of my kids growing up. We do the photo cards every year, and while my kids haven’t had a ton of Christmases yet, it’s a joy for me to look back over these past seven Christmases and see how my children and my family have grown. Time flies, but in a photo, it stands still. I like that!

3. It’s a way to connect with others on a more personal level. I include some work-related friends on my Christmas card list. Sometimes you can have a connection with a friend at work that is mostly virtual or simply all business, but you still feel pretty close to them. Sending a Christmas card lets them get to know another side of you, meet your spouse and your kids, and learn more about who you are outside the workplace.
4. It’s a way to share my faith. A Christmas card can be a great vehicle for letting other people know what this holiday really means to you. You can choose cards that are overtly religious or you can create your own card and customize the message you send. (Check out these 25 Christmas Card Messages.)
5. It’s so easy now! There’s really no reason not to send Christmas cards. Check out our photo deals page where you’ll find great deals on Christmas photo cards that you can create and send in a snap.
