Coastal Contacts: How to Get Almost FREE Prescription Glasses

on February 15, 2010 · 8 Comments

Thanks to Crystal over at the Thrifty Mama for the heads up on this great deal.  We don’t wear glasses around here, so I don’t tend to catch these deals, but I have been told this is a great deal, even if the pairs you like aren’t available.  Her readers are reporting prescription glasses for under $9/ea!

Here is how to get yours:

  1. Register at Ebates it’s free and get $5 instantly in your account (or login if you are already a member).
  2. Search for Coastal Contacts (and get 8% cash back). There are multiple discount codes listed on this landing page, so be sure to write them down before you click through to the Coastal Contacts site.
  3. Once on the Coastal Contacts website, click on the $6.95 banner and then click on  “Shop eyeglasses $10 or less” link.
  4. Order a pair of glasses (they are $6.95 – $9.95) and use code EBATESFRAMES to get 25% off + FREE shipping.
  5. Glasses priced at $6.95 will be FREE if you are a new Coastal Contacts and Ebates customer! (you get the additional 25% off + FREE shipping + $5 in your Ebates acct.)

I ordered a pair of glasses when they had a similar deal last year and was very pleased with them! I also ordered contacts from them recently – the price was much better than all other online contact stores.

I just wanted to point out one caveat on this deal. If you wear bifocals or progressives, this is probably not a good idea. When you wear that kind of lens the optician has to measure where to place the bifocal in your particular frame. It would be very hard to estimate this without you trying on the glasses, since everyone's different. Coastal Contacts does have a 30 day return policy, so you may be all right. I've worked in the optical field for 5 years. I have heard good things about this company. The only complaints I've heard have been from people who wear progressives. People with single vision glasses are usually pretty happy. Just something to consider.

http://www.zennioptical.com always has deals like this also! I have bought several pairs from them and been very happy, so I can't wait to try these.

All endings are beginnings, we just don’t know it at the time.
