If you’re new to the drugstores (Walgreens, CVS & Rite Aid), then you’ll love this. One of my readers is sharing her CVS deal scenario with you. This is a great step-by-step tutorial if you’re just starting at CVS, or if you need a little inspiration. She used the 2nd transaction to “buy” items her family needed with ECB she earned, however you can fill in the 2nd transaction with any other specific necessities your family may have. You can find the rest of this week’s CVS coupon matchups here.

I always find the way people show their CVS/Walgreens deals as misleding. Technically she spent approximately $25 out of pocket and left with $4 in ECBs. She makes it sound like the first transaction was $9 and the second was $.32 (plus tax for each). I don’t consider any item free if I am technically out the cash up front!
I agree with Kristin. She spent $22.96 + $.32 = $23.28. She used the $10 of the $14 ECB gained on the first transaction to purchase the second and has $4 left for next week. You can’t take the $14 ECB off BOTH transactions!
I guess it’s all in how you look at it. It looks like she bought items that her family needed, instead of just purchasing the “best” deals. She was still able to get $52 worth of product for $23 cash & walk away with $4 ECB to spend next week. That’s a 55% savings – I’d say that was pretty good.
