I was just blown away by this recent post on the Christianity Today site that gives credibility, through solid statistics and economic data, of just how much of a difference you can really make in the world when you sponsor a child. You’ve got to check out this article, which details a study that was done on people who had received sponsorships as children and where they are today.
When you sponsor a child, this study proves sponsorship makes children
- 27 to 40 percent more likely to complete secondary school
- 50 to 80 percent more likely to complete a university education
- 14–18 percent more likely to obtain a salaried job
- 35 percent more likely to obtain a white-collar job
Evidence from the study also concluded that these sponsored kids are more likely to become community leaders and church leaders. Wow!
Now that you know about the children in need, what will you do about it? – Everett Swanson, founder of Compassion International
Compassion International is a ministry that is dear to my heart. I had the privilege of going to Nicaragua this year with a Compassion team and it was life-changing for me. I am thrilled to be a part of the Compassion Bloggers network, telling others about the world’s children who are in need and using my blog to encourage others to do something about it, such as sponsoring a child.
