I went shopping today to see what the stores have available for Easter Clearance. I hit Walmart, Target, CVS, and Walgreens. I got a lot of great finds to put away for my Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. In the picture above, nothing cost more than $.50. Stickers were cheap, and they love those. The cups were $.10 each. I’ll fill the cups with items like candy, socks, or small toys so that they aren’t taking up extra space, but the kids will still get something they can drink from.
I knew I wanted to get stuffed animals for my OCC boxes. After being there, I knew that was something the kids wanted and loved to receive. I got Beanie Babies for $.50.
I spotted this cup game at Walmart. These were cheap, but I know they will go down. My goal is to find things cheaper than what I can get them for at the dollar store. I can always go to the dollar store in November when I am putting OCC boxes together, but if I can find stuff cheaper now than what it will be there, then I will grab it. I’m going to wait on these until they are marked down more.
Btw, store clerks all told me that they would be dropping the Easter clearance prices down to 75% off by Friday.
Have you found anything for OCC boxes this week? What are your favorite things to put in the boxes?
Thanks for the idea. I never would have thought to get this stuff for my OCC boxes!
I get a new idea each time I go to the store!
which store had the .50 beanies?
I found them at Walgreens. Probably be $.25 tomorrow! if there are any left….
I put stuffed animals in all my boxes, but I also like to put a Barbie doll in each girl’s box. But I’m careful to get ones that are suitably clothed–no bikinis. I also shop after Valentine’s Day and Easter clearance, but also after Back to School sales, too, for paper, pens, rulers, notebooks, scissors, etc. I always include hair bows, headbands, journals, stickers, jewelry for the girls. I will include a checker or chess set for the boys, along with matchbox cars, stickers and balls for the boys. Also coloring books and crayons, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other small books. I buy plastic boxes to put my stuff in–they last longer. Also hard candy or candy canes is a must.
Linda – I love your ideas! Thank you so much for sharing them with us. Can’t wait to keep an eye out for these items.
