I wanted to share with you this beautiful poem written by a friend of mine, Sarah Scaffidi. She wrote it 20 years ago for a school project her sophomore year.
I hope it touches you on this special day. Have a blessed Easter!
He Came A Man
A shepherd to lost sheep.
To bare our sins and hold our crowns,
Our harvests for to reap.He knew the task He had to do,
He prayed “Thy will be done.”
His sweat fell to the ground like blood,
His last ordeal begun. He said He was the Son of Man,
He was the King of Jews.
And He was sent to die a death,
For all His way to choose.
They led Him to the Place of Skulls,
The hill of death for Him.
Nails went through every hand and foot,
With care to bruise no limb.
A crown was placed upon His head,
The cross high on the hill.
The crucifixion was complete,
“I’ve done my Father’s will.”
The curtain tore, the earth did shake,
Darkness was all about.
Surely this was the Son of God,
Of this there was no doubt.
Three days He spent within the tomb,
The Scripture to fulfill.
He then arose and walked the earth,
For doubt and fear to still.
If we believe He died for us,
And trust in that for all.
We will at death see His dear face,
For we have heard His call.
