Father’s Day Appetizers
When it comes to food for Father’s Day, appetizers may not be what immediately comes to mind. But celebrating Father’s Day has a different look and feel to it than Mother’s Day, and there are lots of ideas for ways to make it special. Let’s face it, whether you go with an all-out celebration or something a little more low-key, food is going to be involved. It’s how we celebrate, it’s how we express our love, and it’s how we find a point of connection and a gathering place for friends and family.
When I talk to other moms, I find that when it comes to Mother’s Day we have different needs for the different phases in our lives—but it’s pretty much universal that we all want to be pampered and allowed the fun of a do-nothing, it’s-all-about-me day. Fathers are definitely the same way on their special day. And while there’s nothing wrong with a great sit-down meal or a special dinner out, there’s definitely nothing wrong with indulging Dad with what might just be one of his favorite things to do: vegging out in front of the TV, watching his favorite team, and munching on his favorite appetizers for Father’s Day.
Easy and Cheap Appetizers for Your Budget
Creating a buffet of on-the-cheap appetizers can be easier than planning a big dinner, so this might be a great idea if you are on a tight budget. What you need to be careful about, however, is that the appetizers you choose are hearty and filling for a man’s appetite. This is not the time for frou-frou or a plateful of light, delicate items. You’re looking for appetizers that include:
