It probably goes without saying that if you visit Faithful Provisions (or similar sites), you are trying to save money on groceries. This article appeared in our Sunday paper and it is worth a read if you:
- need extra motivation to save money on groceries
- or want to encourage someone who is trying to save on groceries
The bottom line is the cost to get food to market is rising and that is being passed on to the consumer. So what can you do about it?
Here are three things you can do without even clipping a coupon:
1. Know your staple items – If you know what you use the most of, take advantage of those items when you see them on sale. Use a Freezer Inventory List (Free Download) to help you keep track of what you have on hand and what you need and the Provisions Price List (or the FREE Provisions iPhone App) to know when they are a good price.
2. Stock Up – Prices are going up, so when the items on your Grocery List are a great deal, stock up. Also, you may need to revisit your budget and adjust accordingly.
3. Meal Plan –This tool is more important than ever. Plan out your meals to help stretch your grocery budget further.
