Five Ways to Save Money Without Clipping Coupons
Groceries take a big bite out of the monthly budget. Here are five ways to cut your food bill by up to 50% without using even one coupon.
Shop the Grocery Circulars. Everything on the front page is usually half off. Buy one, get one free deals are big too. Cherry-pick the best deals at a couple of stores so that you never pay full price for your family’s staples.
Download our FREE Provisions iPhone App or print out the Provisions “Get it Now” list, to know the best price on your everyday grocery purchases.
Make a Shopping List. Study after study has shown that shoppers are less likely to make impulse buys and purchase items already lining their pantry if they shop from a list. It can be as simple as a piece of notebook paper taped to the refrigerator. Or, try out a free online service like ZipList (www.ziplist.com), which categorizes your items by aisle and even lets you search recipes and add ingredients to your shopping list with one click.
Be Brand Flexible. Some brands are worth being loyal to forever. But there are many more that are worth straying from if a better deal can be found elsewhere, even with the store brand. Toilet paper and peanut butter spring to mind here, anyone?
Befriend the Butcher. Meat can be one of the biggest expenses in the weekly food budget, so making friends with the butcher is a must. Find out what time of day and which day of the week the must-go priced meats are set out for purchase. These can be a fantastic bargain.
Shop Alone. Shopping alone is good for two reasons. One, it reduces the temptation to cave to little voices asking for everything they see. Two, it makes you more aware of prices ringing at the register.

I click on the “Get It Now” list and I get the form listing but is this a comprehensive list that we are to write in the side where to get the items because I see certains stores listed, like Aldi and Costco but didn’t see any others . . . how do I utilize this list?
Dana – This list is just a “general best prices” list for any store. These are target prices for each product. I have added Aldi and Costco, because they are two stores that I find have some great “everyday low prices” on select items in the list. These are usually items I don’t see good sales on elsewhere, and don’t typically find coupons for. I hope this helps!
