Free Summer Reading Programs for Kids 2014
Summer is the perfect opportunity to jump start your kids’ interest in reading, or keep them reading if it’s something they already enjoy. Summer reading programs are plenty, so you’ve got lots of incentive out there in the form of prizes and awards! Check out this listing of 2014 Summer Reading Programs.
- Scholastic’s Summer Reading Program lets kids log their reading minutes to win digital prizes. They can also enter sweepstakes for gifts like Klutz books and other fun rewards. Parents can register along with their children to track progress.
- Pottery Barn Kids’ Summer Reading Program will be returning again this year. Kids 10 and under complete one of the books from their reading list to receive a free book.
- Barnes & Noble’s Summer Reading Program requires kids to read eight books and record them in a reading journal. Turn in your completed Reading Journal and choose a FREE BOOK from the selection on the Reading Journal list at the store.
- TD Bank Summer Reading Program will deposit $10 into a Young Savers account when your child reads at least 10 books and submits his reading list. (You must have either an existing Young Savers account or be willing to open one for your child.)
- HEB H.E.Buddy Club Summer Reading Program will give kids who read 10 books a free t-shirt when you join their Summer Reading Club. Simply mail in this summer reading form to join.
- Chuck E Cheese Summer Reading Program offers a Reading Rewards Calendar (along with several other rewards calendars). Once a child has completed two weeks of reading, he or she can submit the completed Chuck E Cheese calendar for 10 free tokens.
- Half Price Books Feed Your Brain Summer Reading Program allows kids ages 14 and under to earn HPB Back-to-School Bucks for reading at least 15 minutes a day in June and July. A completed summer reading log is required.
- Sylvan Book Adventure Summer Reading Program allows kids to earn points when they take a short quiz on books they’ve read. Points can be traded in for some neat prizes.
- Junie B. Jones Summer Reading Program gives kids a FREE Junie B. Jones book. Sign up and get a free starter kit that includes “Junie B Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus”, activity sheets and a membership ID.
- Your Local Public Library Summer Reading Program: Be sure to check with your local library to see what sort of summer reading program they are offering.
