God’s Not Dead Movie Review
This weekend while the kids were at the grandparents, my hubby and I stole a night out to go see the new God’s Not Dead movie featuring Kevin Sorbo (I got to meet him in NY while on a tv interview at Better TV!), Newsboys and The Robertson family from Duck Dynasty, just to name a few. It was such a great movie that I wish I would’ve taken the kids with me! This was opening weekend for the movie, so I’m really glad we were able to get out and support it. I’m amazed at how far faith-based movies have come in movie quality and scope of actors. I’m so thankful for some clean, message-filled options that the family can watch together.
The crux of the movie is about a college student being called to defend his faith from an atheist professor who requires all students to write “god is dead” on a piece of paper in order to pass the class. One student refuses and needs to sway his class to believe that God is NOT Dead. The story unfolds as the student presents his case and defends God to his classmates. It is a very powerful testimony. I absolutely love hearing someone defend their faith, defending God and why He is who He is. The only thing I didn’t like about this movie is that I wanted to hear more!

Family Review Information
One of the first things I do before we see a movie is check out the reviews on PluggedIn.com (Focus on the Family’s Entertainment review site). They give a great breakdown of the different elements or content you will be exposed to like spiritual, sexual, violent, drug and alcohol content and even positive/negative elements. After reading their review, I knew it was a movie we wanted to see.
For me, there were a few scenes that would make me pause to take my eight and six year old.
1. The most difficult scene was where a Muslim girl was being smacked and carried out of the house by her father because she had accepted Jesus. It was a very emotional scene that had me in tears.
2. Someone gets hit by a car and flies in the air, and it is evident he is badly hurt and going to die. No blood or anything.
3. The main supporting role character and his girlfriend kiss and it is inferred they are living together.
4. The main character’s girlfriend wears revealing clothing and is very affectionate and touchy with the boy.
Have you seen God’s Not Dead yet? I would love to hear what you thought, and if you haven’t, you need to get out and see it now!
We saw the movie and loved it. We discussed different topics when the movie was over such as the girlfriends reaction to the guys career plans and proving his faith. I have adult children and it allowed us to discuss a lot of the topics brought out by this film. The audience really got int0 this movie which I really enjoy. The sad thing is it was not showing at all theaters so we had to drive a ways to see it. The good thing is the theater that was sh0wing it filled up and they made out like a bandit.
Not dead, but risen!
Even academia is turning around on this. Considering ONLY data which the most liberal qualified scholars (including Atheists, Muslims, and the Jesus Seminar) consider “undisputed,” we can still verify the Resurrection.

I was excited to watch this movie this past Saturday with my daughter. I felt like I had been to church after it was over. I even took the challenge at the end and received some interesting comments.
