Here are the best deals at Kroger this week. It’s a pretty small ad – no mega events again. There’s a good price on boneless/skinless chicken breasts again, so I think we’ll be grilling chicken this week!
There are also reports of a change to the Kroger policy you’ll want to be aware of before you do your shopping. Apparently you can only use 3 “like” coupons per transaction. For example, if an item is 10/$10, you can only use a coupon on 3 of them. Has anyone else heard about this?

Kelly, I went yesterday and used 5 Q for $1 off Rozoni pasta. No problems. Thanks for the match ups. My sale here in Jackson, Tn runs Wed-Tue. This helps I can decide to wait or buy the product after the Q come out Sunday.
I heard it was 3 internet coupons not 3 like coupons across the board. something about people making copies, etc. of those from online.
I picked up a copy of the Kroger coupon policy (dated May 2011) a week or two ago after getting the run around on using Internet coupons and it doesn’t say anything about a limit of three coupons. However, maybe they changed it again for June to include that. Do they change their policy every month (seems like it)? And is there a corporate-wide policy or is it store by store? Seems like they’ve really been cracking down on coupon users lately (probably thanks to a certain TV show…).
Ya I think your right! Ever since the T.v show came out I think EVERYONE! Is cracking down on all of this (Even manufacture’s when making their coupons!) *Buy three of this to get one of these etc. It’s sad that they are ruining it for big familieslike mine. (We have 5 children) Coupons help keep us afloat but now everyone is trying to be extreme in this couponing and being very selfish instead of just buying what their families need:(
My Kroger , Perrysburg, OH has limited it to 3 like coupons. I tried to use 4 and hoped they would just not double that coupon but nope cashier would only let me use three! Bummer!
I was told today that I can only use 3 like coupons in one transaction and my coupons were not internet printables…I used the South Arlington Kroger in TX.
I am very new to using coupons but it has helped A LOT to keep my family on budget in general. I was at Krogers yesterday and they didn’t double any of my coupons!! Do I have to ask them to double them? I saw that it’s their policy to double everyday and so I was confused as to why none doubled. There were a lot of people in line and like I said I am new to all of this so I didn’t say anything at the time but my bill would have been at least $40 less if they had doubled up to $0.50 on the coupons I used. All coupons were only taken off at face value. I knew the ecoupons wouldn’t double but none of the paper ones were doubled either…
Meghan – Make sure you had them scan your Kroger Plus Card, they won’t double without that. If you did and it still didn’t work, go to customer service, it will show on your receipt and they will see it.
I gave them my plus card.. I will call customer service and see if I can still bring my receipt and have something done. Thank you!
Do you have a Krogers Card? They only double coupons if you use their card.
Nicholas- Yes I gave them my Kroger Plus Card and they scanned it. It took my ecoupons off so I know it scanned correctly. The paper coupons both internet and regular only scaned at face value.
Did they scan your Kroger card first, and then do your coupons. If you do coupons before scanning your card it won’t double. (Obviously I have done this.)
I was told when I went friday by the cashier the limit is 2 like printed coupons and 5 like regular coupons. Oh and the use to round coupons .51 cents – .99 cents off to a dollar and they don’t do that any more either
I used 7 coupons on the bic razors today. My kroger is in ky.
In Columbus Ohio we can only use 3 like coupons per transaction. That dag gone show is messing up everything!!
Haha. Yes Nicholas it is very frustrating that this show has come out!! The worst is not being able to find what you are looking for b/c someone else got greedy and cleaned the shelves.
Did any of you get that nifty folder from Wal-Mart in your Sunday papers that encourages you to bring ads from other stores to price match? If Kroger is going to crack down on coupons (not doubling and limiting quanties), then perhaps we just take our business to Wal-Mart if they’re going to price match. Then again, I am not familiar with Wal-Mart’s coupon policy so that might be a nightmare too. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the poor soul behind us when we try to use coupons (dirty look) AND try to price match (MORE dirty looks)!
Susan I did get that and I thought it was so nice! Visit my Walmart Store Policies page to learn more about how to shop at Walmart. I hope it helps you out!
I’m probably going to get jeers for this one but I’ve felt for a while that stores were going to crack down on the extreme couponing. I like to coupon but don’t consider myself extreme and lately, I’ve just been frustrated. Every time I see one of the great freebie/cheap deals mentioned, I head to the store to take advantage and get one, MAYBE 2 of the listed item, and they are COMPLETELY wiped out. I understand one and maybe a back up, and I do LOVE how you, Kelly, and many others, I’m sure, donate but I feel LOTS of people may just be hoarding and like I hear (from unfortunately, the TV show) that they’re treating it as just a game or it’s fun but some of those stockpiles were enormous and it seems lots of that stuff will expire before they could possibly eat it…hopefully, they give it away before it does. Anyway, sorry to be negative (just another point of view); I love your site and your advice. I’m just disappointed that when I do try to take advantage of a freebie I can’t b/c somehave cleared the inventory so I’m kind of glad they might start limiting.
I have to agree with everything you just said Sissy! It irritates me when people by as many as they can simply b/c they can. I’m not trying to extreme coupon, I just like to save some off my bill and get some good deals when I can. Anyways, I agree with your point, and I too may be glad if they limit some, so that everyone can get in on the deals!
I only buy what I need and will use in a month (or more if it is an item that will last longer!) I know that several people have been overly extreme in their couponing. I am able to save over $100 on regular grocery items through using coupons. I don’t need 4000 toothpastes or 1000 things of diapers (especially since I don’t have a baby!) so I only buy what I need for my family and it’s nice to get a bargain on items for baby shower gifts as needed but I am not a stock pile couponer. I know some people are and that is fine but since the show aired I think that stores have been cracking down on excessive couponing.
I agree that this show has ruined it for those of us who can’t survive w/o using coupons. I lost my job 2 years ago and as an unhealthy, widowed mother with 3 teenagers, I counted on using coupons and planning meals around that. Now the items for deals I need are gone (thanks to greedy shoppers) and this stupid show. It’s not a game to me – it’s survival!
So will Kroger accept an e-coupon and a paper coupon for one item. Sorry I am new to this in case this is a silly question.
My Kroger will not accept both and if you scan your plus card first it takes off the e-coupon first. In other words, if you have a paper coupon for the item that will double scan that first before your plus card. I learned that lesson the hard way.
can someone tell me what “ss” means?…for example, “SS insert”:
-$1/2 Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs 5/15/2011 SS Insert (exp 7/10/2011)
-$1/1 Oscar Mayer Selects Hot Dogs 4/10/2011 SS Insert (exp 6/5/2011)
Dave – SS means SmartSource insert, checkout my Coupon Lingo Page for all the acronyms.
