I went to Kroger yesterday to get some items for my baking day this Tuesday and Wednesday, namely pumpkin. Guess what? The shortage is true, they are completely out of pumpkin and he said they will not be expecting any until later in 2010! So, I guess I won’t be doing Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread as gifts. I will be using the couple of cans I have for muffins, my family LOVES them. Need to find a substitute for the bread now. Any suggestions?

I was also looking for pumpkin today. I finally found some at Food Lion….
How about Banana mini chocolate chip bread? It’s a favorite around my house.
Use cooked and mashed sweet potatoes or butternut squash. They taste very similar to pumpkin in baked goods.
Try the Aldi. They had it last time I was there!
I found canned pumpkin at Aldi for 79 cents per can and bought a case (24) because I had heard there would be a shortage. Maybe I should buy more…we use it for so many things!
Hi,
Dole Foods created an online instant win game. Everyone who plays receives a printable coupon for Dole products.
There are also a bunch of other prizes you can win playing the game like a $10 grocery Visa card or a chance to win a trip for two to California and a 2-night stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village along with a spa visit and wellness consultation.
If you don’t win at least it’s a fun way to grab a coupon!
You can check out the game (and receive your coupons) here: http://bit.ly/43JwLW
I did the same thing as Amanda. Back in October when we first heard about the shortage I went to Aldi’s and bought a case of canned pumpkin. I used some for Thanksgiving pumpkin pie & pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. We still have some left & plan to use it for Christmas. As for a sub. I know it’s not the same as bread but my husband usually makes fudge every year as gifts for our church friends. Everyone always looks forward to it!
There are also several loadable coupons for pillsbury crescent rolls and sweet rolls. I had 2 $1.00 off and one .50 off loaded for crescents, and 2 .40 off loaded for sweet rolls, in addition to the Sunday insert savings. Tennessee Pride Sausage Gravy is still free this week with the Sunday paper coupon if you missed it last week (on sale for $1, plus .55 off one coupon). And you can use your Sunday paper coupons for Progresso soups (as well as 2 .50 loadable coupons). I got 6 cans for $2.00.
From reader April – Thanks!
You know those Healthy choice coupons we could print a while ago for $2/1? Well…if you still have it you can get one free at Kroger this week since Healthy choice is on sale for 5/$10
Does anyone know if loaded coupons on a kroger card get doubled? And also can you use mgr. coupons or printable coupons WITH loadable coupons? Thanks, I’m still new at this!
Stephanie – loadable coupons do not double and you can use loadable with printable.
Thanks! I thought that on my last Kroger trip it counted a loadable and mgr. coupon both on the same item. That rocks! I was just checking to make sure so that I could plan my trip better.
I noticed you told someone else to just print the grocery list from you. What is the best way to do that? Thanks!
Sorry:-) Just noticed the “print this post” at the top left of each post. Guess I need to go to bed! LOL!
