Wow, I can’t believe we are already well into March. How are you doing on your goals for this year? I wanted to give you an update on where I am with mine. If you remember, my number one goal for this year was to watch less TV–a lot less!–and get back to my love of reading. I did great with this in January, plowing through a lot of books and only watching the few carefully selected shows that I really wanted to watch, but toward the second half of February, I just fell off the wagon. My energy levels seemed to be down, and with that as an excuse, I allowed myself to veg out in front of the TV more than I would have liked to.
But–I am getting back in the swing of things, and I’m reading books that are really encouraging me in my own particular season of life. Below are the books I am reading and/or hope to get through this month. I’m starting to realize this is actually a pretty ambitious list, because we are moving this month, so I won’t have nearly as much time to read. (I’ll be sharing more on our move and on this new phase in my family’s life soon!)
I just finished up Dr. Tim Kimmel’s Connecting Church and Home. Read my review HERE.
I’m really enjoying Wild Things! Such an appropriate title for a book about boys!
This book is a life changer! I’ve just started reading Radical.
Praying Circles Around Your Children
I am reading through the New Testament for Lent, and so far I’ve gotten through all the Gospels and Acts. I’m about midway through Romans now. I have to say, I have a completely new perspective on God’s Word by reading through it this way. It’s seven chapters a day, and I have just really appreciated reading through it in big portions like this. I’ll admit, I’ve been bouncing around with my versions. I read through the Gospels using the NIV. I loved the reverence that I felt reading through Jesus’ words in that translation. I’m sticking with The Message paraphrase through Acts and now Romans. I’d love for you to join me. You don’t have to try to catch up, just jump in with me. I’m posting each day’s reading on my Facebook page early every morning (6 am EST/5 am CST).
