We took a quick family trip over to Whole Foods this morning to see what weekend deals they had and grabbed a few things at our store. My kids absolutely love the Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade, and this week we poured it into popsicle molds (our favorites are the Tovolo Rocket Ship and Star ones). That is a staple these days with this heat wave settling in. You can see my girl’s half-eaten one and my little ham-o-la smiling for you!
Gluten and Dairy Free Shopping
With some skin and respiratory irritations, we have decided to take dairy and wheat out of our diets for a while and see how it goes. And in doing so, our grocery bill is rising, but I am finding that the same shopping principles apply with conventional, organic, gluten-free, or dairy free lifestyles. You just stock-up when the items you need are on sale, and meal plan around those items.
The organic avocados were a great steal, these are usually a great price at $.99 each for conventional, so $1.25/ea for organic is great. I will use them in salads and for guacamole this week.

Oh my gosh what a couple of cuties!!! Looks like you have your hands full with that little guy 😉
Hi,
Just an FYI if you are going dairy and casein free, which I have done with my oldest, and going that direction with the youngest boy. Make sure you supplement their diets with plenty of Vitamin D, B vitamins (millet is a great source of this!), protein and calcium. I did not realize all this when I put the oldest on this diet (for his autism) and he ended up with two staph infections and chronic fatigue. He is now fine, thank God. But I wish someone had told me that way earlier.
Also, keeping their total daily sugar low will help with these issues. We’ve battled ezcema and candida issues and cleared that up with the low to no sugar.
I applaud you for taking control of your children’s health.
Rebecca, thank you so much for the information. The sugar is definitely an issue I have to watch with little kids, he has eczema and we are trying to eliminate it with diet.
sorry, I meant gluten and dairy free.
