It’s back again, you better sign up quick, because these go FAST!! I have never had the opportunity to participate in this program because they never need members in my area. I will say it is said to be a little work, but many participants say the benefits are wonderful, lots of free stuff!!
Have you heard of the Nielsen Homescan Consumer Panel?
As a Nielsen panel member, Homescan will provide you with a FREE hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases. Then, once a week, you’ll send them your purchase information.
What’s in it for you?
You’ll earn gift points for scanning products. The gift points will be redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and much more! You’ll also earn entries into sweepstakes!
Interested in becoming a Homescan Panelist?
Just go here and fill out the form! Please be aware that certain Zip codes are excluded (I’m not sure which ones), so you may or may not qualify. It worth a shot to see, though! (Unfortunately, my zip code didn’t need anyone, rats!)
Do I have any readers currently in the program that would like to share their perspectives?
They said they’d send me one as soon as it was available.
I registered and got a message that said I would be put on a waiting list. It said once a spot was available they would send me a scanner.
I am a homescan consumer panel member 🙂
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I did this program for about two weeks before sending the scanner back. It was simply far too much work–especially if you use coupons. You have to manually enter in prices most of the time, and you have to enter in if the item is on sale and/or if you use a coupon. And the prizes you could earn were far more “expensive” than other rewards programs. Stick with SwagBucks or other easier programs that offer much more for much less work!
I’m with Valerie on this one. I was on the panel about 6 months ago for a week before sending it back. I did the “test” transmission and realized that it would take forever to manually enter all of the coupons I use. Plus, I use a MAC and their scanners and software isn’t compatible. They even asked what type of computer and software I use in all of the surveys I took before they sent out the equipment, but they still didn’t disqualify me. It was frustrating when I was trying to get it to work. The prizes were not worth the time either. It would have taken about a year to really qualify for anything great. You might have a better experience, but if you use a MAC you probably can’t participate unless they have updated their scanners.
