I have been looking into coconut oil too. Are you concerned about all the saturated fat? I think it does help my skin as a moisturizer, but I am hesitant to incorporate it into our diets with so much saturated fat. I would love to hear what you have decided on the subject.

Yes. I get this question all the time. 🙂 It’s a technical answer , but it boils down to the fact that it’s a medium chain fatty acid that is very easy for our bodies to break down. Other saturated fats are long chain. I have struggled w/ slightly elevated cholesterol in the past and it hasn’t had a negative impact on me.

Thanks SO much for this heads-up about ordering from Amazon! My family and I are switching over to coconut oil and grapeseed oil, and these savings are so timely for us.
I will echo what Susannah said: from my understanding of the research I’ve done on this subject, the fats in coconut oil (like in avocados and nuts) are the good kinds of fats for our bodies — they’re the fats that our bodies actually need to function well. We’ll benefit from consuming these fats in their least-processed (i.e. cold-pressed for oils) forms.

I have very sensitive skin. I use this coconut oil as a lotion. I love this stuff! I usually get this at Mother’s Market or Whole Foods and they’re sooo expensive. Somewhere around $15/jar! Thanks Kelly for this info. I just ordered some from Amazon. Now got to remember to cancel the this “automatic shipment plan”.
