I have to tell you about this little gem that my friend Cheryl and her hubby Greg told me about a few weeks ago. I just LOVE music, but have gotten lazy at seeking out new music in the genre I enjoy.
Well, my work is done for me at Pandora.com!!!
Pandora is a FREE internet radio station that you can customize to your liking.
Why do I love this site? (From The Thrifty Mama)
I can pick what I want to listen to by style, song, artist, composer, ect… I pick a theme and it creates my own personal radio station. I can listen to classical operettas or I can listen to R&B. So, if I’m in the mood for worship music all I do is pick my theme, type or artist and it compiles a station based on my preferences. If they play a song that I don’t like, all I have to do is give it a thumbs down and it will never play it again. If I hear a song I really like, I give it a thumbs up, and it will find more songs like that and add them to my station.
The best part is that there are absolutely NO COMMERCIALS!!! Yeah!
Here’s how it works:
- Sign up for a FREE account here. (when you click on pandora.com it takes a few seconds to load the page)
- You will land at the “Create a new station” tab.
- Simply type in a song or artist that you like.
- Name your station– i.e.) Contemporary Christian
- To fine tune the songs Pandora picks for you be sure to give a thumbs up or down sign (under each song title) to let Pandora know which songs to pull from that you want to hear in the future.
- Create more stations depending on your mood.

I LOVE PANDORA!!!! Thank you so much for posting this! Just about every online radio station has been blocked where I work, as is blog music on my favorite blogs! I love that I could just type in a favorite band (Selah) and then it plays music like that…AWESOME! I’ve heard so many songs i’ve never heard before…the christian music station i listen to in the car plays the SAME songs OVER and OVER again!!!!
My family loves Pandora!! We have several stations, ranging from jazz to worship to christian rock (for the kids!) to classical. It’s a great service!
We love Pandora at our house too! We’ve almost stopped buying music all-together. We have an iPod touch and wi-fi at home, so we just hook the output from iPod up to our stereo system and instant/free awesome music via the iPod!!!
I love pandora at work and have been listening for almost 2 years now and have built up my list of stations for basically whatever mood I’m in! If you like Christian music I highly recommend making a Bethany Dillon station, it rocks.
