Praying For Boys
I absolutely love to read. Whenever I have any spare time, you will find me knitting or reading – often reading several books at once! I especially love to read books about being a better parent to my kiddos; they’re like powerful tools in my parenting tool belt. Especially books on how to better love them, learning what they need from me, reminding me how they need to be loved and how they tick. That’s why I absolutely LOVE the new book Praying for Boys: Asking God for the Things They Need Most by my friend Brooke McGlothlin.
**Right now, you can get the Kindle version for only $1.99!
This isn’t just a book you pick up, read and put back on the shelf. This is a book you savor. The copy I have is dog-eared, underlined and perfect for using each morning during my quiet time. The chapters are broken down into topics to pray over your boys. She even has scripture samples you can use to pray over your children and incorporate their name to make it unique to just them.
The Power In Prayer
I absolutely LOVE my little man, but obedience is an area that we struggle with, more than I would like to admit. Can you guess which chapter I started with this month? Obedience. It has been so amazing to watch his heart change over the last month as I have been praying God’s word on obedience over him each morning. Not only has it changed his heart, but mine as well. I am continually overwhelmed with the power there is in prayer. This book has been a great reminder and tool to use to get me back on track of daily prayer for my kids.
Here are a few more of my favorite books on prayer and raising children:
- Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys by Stephen James and David Thomas
- Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian
- Boys Will Be Boys by Dr. Meg Meeker
- Raising Boys By Design: What the Bible and Brain Science Reveal About What Your Son Needs to Thrive by Dr Gregory Jantz & Michael Gurian
- Grace-Based Parenting by Tim Kimmel
- Parenting From The Inside Out by Dr. Daniel Siegel & Mary Hartzell
What are your favorite books about praying for your kids? I am always looking for new books to read, I would love to hear from you!
When my boys were growing up, the task I liked least was mending clothes and with 2 active youngsters, there was plenty of mending! Then I started using my mending time as prayer time, first for my children and spreading out from there. What had been a chore became a time of blessing!
I love that!
Just checked on this one as we’re doing a class on Stormie’s book this season. Unfortunately the Kindle version is only $2.99 if you also buy a print version from Amazon. Otherwise it is $7.99. Another one to add to my reading list though! : )
