This week, I’m hearing Thanksgiving being referred to as the “overlooked” holiday. I can’t help but agree. Retailers tend to jump right into Christmas and the Black Friday frenzy without even catching a breath. But Thanksgiving is there for precisely that. To me, it’s a holiday of rest, thankfulness, and rejoicing. It’s family and friends and great food. It’s resting in God’s grace and how good He is, no matter what circumstances the year has brought.
If you’re looking to get your heart in the right place for Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season, I have a book I want to recommend: 1000 Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. You’ve probably heard about this best-selling Christian book by Ann Voskamp, and there’s good reason. It’s a great read. I have so enjoyed the author’s challenging words that are full of God’s grace and gentleness.
