I just want to apologize for any frustration, confusion and ill treatment you received over the Kmart diaper that went bad this week. I have had many posts from readers saying that Kmart employees told you that you had a “fraudulent” coupon. Which I am sure caused you much embarrassment and concern.
First off, this coupon was pulled off of Kmart’s website, so it was NOT fraudulent in any, nor was it altered by anyone. It is impossible to alter a coupon and then repost on a retailers site. It also stated on the coupon that it was valid anywhere, not just NY (as rumors spread).
I am not going to give the details around it here, because Crystal over at Money Saving Mom did a great post outlining all the details around the $10 off $20 Kmart coupon that I posted about this week. Be sure to read her post here on all the specifics.
I hope this clears things up a bit, and again “I’m Sorry!” for any frustration, embarrassment and wasted time and energy you spent on this deal.
I think the issue was the KMart decided it did not wish to honor the coupon. It is pretty clear a legitimate coupon. I didn't even bother with it because I never shop at KMart anyway. Remember the KFC free chicken dinner coupons, and the Sears $10 off? Kind of the same deal.
I appreciate the clarifications from you awesome bloggers, but this one is solely on Kmart. It's things like this that make me wonder how in the world something like that gets through? PDF? Really? I'm just a stay-at-home mom trying to save some money (and totally new at couponing and such) and even *I* thought that was going to be a problem. Maybe common sense isn't so common? Anyway, it makes me leery of the Super Doubles, since I've never done that before. Any tips on that? I mean, Kmart is the one doing it, not like we're forcing them to 🙂 but they were the ones offering the “fraudulent” coupon, too, and look how they turned! 🙂
I really think its poor of the company to do that to its customers. Just like Snapfish renigging for lack of a better word the coasters that they promised and then said it was not right. It really makes me not want to shop at those stores anymore and I havent!

My name is Erin and I work for Sears Holdings Corporation. An electronic coupon that was designated for Kmart stores in our Chicago, New York and Baltimore markets was mistakenly distributed to a larger audience. Kmart associates outside of these markets were not aware of the coupon and did not honor them when presented at the store. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience or dissatisfaction this may have caused our customers. Please know that we are currently reviewing our internal process to prevent similar situations from happening in the future. We encourage any customers that may have been directly affected to call 1-866-KMART-4U (1-866-562-7848) or contact us via email help@customerservice.kmart.com.
I don’t even shop at Kmart anymore because of the customer service I’ve received when trying to use coupons. For those of you in the Nashville area, steer clear of the Kmart on Gallatin Rd – there is a store manager named Morgan who was checking me out in line when they had a great sale on cheerios a while back. I had 3 boxes of cheerios and 3 $1 off/1 box coupons and he tried to tell me that he would have to ring me up 3 separate times to use 3 coupons (meaning I would not get the boxes at the sale price since it was a 3/$deal) – he told me “that is just how coupons work so that manufacturers can make a profit”. Rather than arguing over cereal and holding up the line, I have simply never shopped there again. I did call the customer service line who told me that Morgan was indeed incorrect in his interpretation of the coupon rules, but otherwise seemed pretty unconcerned over the ordeal. What would have satisfied me is a big bowl of cheerios and milk…
