Guess what today is for my family? It’s moving day! If you’ve been keeping up with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you’ve probably noticed several pictures of the chaos at my house. Things have happened very quickly! We’re not moving out of the area, just out of our house, and into a new one…and here’s why:
The last few months have been a complete whirlwind for our family, because we have felt the call of adoption, and we are so excited about it! As part of that journey, we felt the Lord calling us to move to a new home, and so, in the span of three months, a lot of doors have opened, and it has all happened really fast. It began with the Lord leading us to begin the adoption process, which is why we put our house on the market. And even in this economy, it sold in just a couple of weeks. Then, the Lord led us to exactly the home we were to purchase a week later.
It’s been so exciting to see the Lord opening the doors that needed to be opened, and closing the doors that needed to be closed. I just can’t wait to give you all the details! Plus, I want you to journey alongside me as we go down this road of adoption. I know there are so many of you who have already traveled this path, and I’m going to need your input and advice. I also know there are a lot of you who have been considering adoption. Hopefully, what I share here on Faithful Provisions will help you in deciding if adopting is right for you. Soon I’ll be sharing journal-style posts that will reveal my heart, what’s going on, and where God is taking the Hancocks.
For today, on this Good Friday, I’m looking forward to our moving day and to spending the first Easter in our new place. Would you please pray for me? This is a big day for our family–and one of many transitions to come.
Have you got any tips for making the first night in a new house easier for the kids? I’d love to hear from you!
How exciting! We adopted from Russia almost 13 years ago and it was a huge blessing. I can’t wait to hear about your journey.
Congrats to you all, on all fronts! We recently moved after living in the same home for 10 years – and it had been the only home our children had ever known. On night 1 my focus was their bedroom. My goal was to have it completely put together, unpacked, organized, etc. It was a big undertaking but we did it. To be fair, my boys shared a room so I only had to focus on one room. But another idea is to have a family campout in the biggest room. Throw all of the mattresses down and just make a night of it. Wishing you the very best.
Congratulations! We have been praying about adopting, but need to move first also, and since we are moving in the fall to MO, we have to wait.
Kelly! Congratulations on your move but most of all congratulations on your call to adopt!
We received the call to adopt 7 years ago. It seems to start out as a little voice, a small twinge and then it turnes into a loud voice that takes over every thought (at least that’s how it happened for me). Our daughter was 2 when she became part of our family.
It’s the best thing we ever did and I’ll never regret it.
God Bless your family and I look forward to following your journey.
Oh good. Glad to see why. Good luck! We too sold our home fast last March. Listed and a contract in less than 4 hrs after we listed it!! God is good. He answers quick sometimes and surprises us all the time!! 🙂 the MT area has not suffered in real estate quite as bad as some think. Will pray for you all as you adopt!
Kelly, I have been reading all the posts as you have packed up and got ready to move and it seemed a little hard for you as I read it. Now I see why. It’s a huge move and as long as God is the leader it will all be a smooth transition. I will pray for ya’ll as God leads you to the perfect child for your family. Keep seeking him and you will reap great rewards. He is risen. Praise the Lord! I’m really glad you aren’t moving out of the area.
