I had a pretty good week, especially considering I only have $42.30 for the next 2 weeks! Can I do it? I am working on it. I actually got 2 rebate checks for a total of $20 so I now have $62.30, yeah!!
Publix was a good run for me this week, I was really prepared and did well in my savings. My total before savings was $85.75, I had $49.93 in coupons and my final total was $35.82 (That’s about 60% in savings!!). I got a bunch of Go-Gurts for the freezer for $1 each, FREE Grape Juice (penny item), $5 of produce for only $3, and some FREE popcorn, to name a few things.
Krogers caught me off guard, and I spent more than I meant to. I went in to do the Mix & Match Savings Event, but some of my fillers items they were completely out of and I had to improvise or ditch the whole thing, so I improvised and went way over my budget, ugh. My total was $48.86, I had $31.62 in savings and spent $17.24 out of pocket (65% savings). I was able to get a good deal on Cottonelle (FREE), Pace Salsa ($.50/ea), and French’s Mustard (FREE).
I made a quick trip to Rite Aid to grab a few things that never go on sale with my $5 off $25 coupon and my $25 gift card. I still have $5 left on it!
At most office supply stores they will give you $3 per empty ink cartridge, I had $9 in credit at Staples for that, and used it to purchase a home item we need, so again, no money out of pocket! I am on a roll, if only I could do that with my grocery/food shopping…
My shopping overview: Week of January 18
Publix: $ 35.82
Kroger: $ 17.24
Rite Aid: $ 0.00
Total: $ 53.06
Budget Left for January: $ 9.24 (Can I do it next week?)

I have cut my grocery budget down to $60 a week. We only went over $5 this week because we did not have charcoal for grilling burgers on Friday. I also transfer an Rx to CVS this week using the $25 gift card deal from Rite Aid. This GC went towards apple juice and tortilla chips that I forgot to purchase at Kroger but needed after all my money was gone. I’ve built up $20 in ECB and still have $18 on a GC for CVS if I need anything, but I’m having fun stocking up on great CVS items. I’m hoping I can stay with the $60 a week since I’m starting to use the stockpiled meat in my freezer. Let me know if you see any great meat deals!
P.S. Kelly, you can do it next week! We can all live out of your pantry and freezer during WWIII. Resist the temptation to go to the grocery store!! 🙂
I just got back from Kroger. I hate to tell you, but I found the Kraft cheese coupons- they were at the very end of the cheese section, not near the slices at all. I also found a package of markdown slices that were 89 cents so they ended up being free. I spent $21 and saved $56, and this includes a package of huggies jumbo diapers. Now I have $24 left to spend at Publix for the week.
I finally did it! I spent $50 on a weeks worth of groceries for our family. Which did include a few stockpiling items (Dole fruit cups which were bogo and had a coupon; the Berotili (sp?) suace and the Red Barron Pizza bogo and had a coupon). What REALLY helped me was making a week meal plan utilizing what I already had. Also, I have stopped buying the deli meat and am getting the packaged meats now. oh and I calculated my cost before I left for the store which helped me not to stray from my list. THANK YOU KELLY AND CHRISTINA!!!
thanks for the informative post..
