I haven’t done really well the last few weeks in maximizing my dollars. I have pretty much been using my stock pile, letting it shrink, and spending a little more on items. I haven’t had a lot of motivation the last few weeks, due to lots of other activities that are pulling my attention away.
I have also decided to up my budget by about $ 10 per week, retro active the beginning of this month (gives me more to work with over the next 2 weeks!). So, my weekly budget until his milk consumption goes down is $50 week.
My son is off of formula and now we go through about 3 gallons of milk per week. We don’t have the formula cost, “Thank the Lord!”, but now our grocery needs have gone up. Be sure to do that as your situations change, be sure not to frustrate yourself by trying to stick with a budget that you have outgrown as a family.
I am determined to get back on track this week and start being a better steward! I will be doing a lot of praying today to get ready for next week in my meal planning options and my grocery trips today!
To give you a few ideas, here are some things I specifically pray for around my grocery shopping.
Prayer Ideas:
- enjoyment in the process
- meals to please and bless your family (physically & emotionally)
- time to thoughtfully prepare each week
- God’s hand in decision making and all choices
- eyes to “see” the deals
- self-control with budget parameters
- deals that will provide just what your family “needs”
- asking the Lord before I check out if there is anything in my cart I don’t need (Thanks Keri!)
What are things you specifically ask the Lord to help you with in your grocery shopping and planning?

Finally I got back into the swing! I went to Publix and spent 48 but saved 43! I also went to Walgreens this week for diapers. I had a 25 dollar check from a Rx transfer, so I got all kinds of face cleansers, shampoo, diapers, contact solution, lip gloss, spent about $18. Have a 8 dollar mail in rebate and saved close to $40! So all together this week I am at $66. I busted my budget by $6.00!
Thanks for all your great help! I attended your class at CPC and am trying to implement what I can. I so appreciate your time you put into all of this for us! My husband and I are amazed! may God double your rewards! Gigi Sanders
