I am trying to do a mini-pantry challenge this week since we still have so much in the freezer! I did see the Perdue Chicken Roasters are on sale for $.79/lb at Kroger this week, so I will stock up on those since I am just about out of chicken in the freezer.
I have a few things I need to find recipes for so if you have ideas, please share them in the comments below. I need some new ideas around using my Turkey Smoked Sausage and Northen Beans. So, I would love your ideas.

We are having a pantry challenge week also. I cleaned out my pantry today, and realized we really need to use up what we have. Which leads me to ask could you do a “Pantry Inventory Sheet”? I have my own in excel. But, I am OCD & would love for it to match the freezer inventory & meal plan template.
You could cook your Northern Beans and your sausage together. Just soak the beans overnight in the insert of your crockpot. Drain and rinse them the next morning and add fresh water to cover beans plus about 1/2-inch. Add a chopped onion and a bit of garlic, then cook them on low for about 6 hours. Chop the sausage and add to the beans. Cook two hours longer. Serve with cornbread.
Or make the northern beans into baked-type beans and just grill the sausage. Or make the sausage into jambalaya…yum!
Amanda – Thanks for the ideas! My beans are already cooked, I have them in the freezer, so I’ll do the grilled turkey sausage!
The last time I use Northern Beans I made a soup that turned out really great! I soaked my beans,(if you soak them in water with baking soda, it cuts down on the gas a bit) when I was ready to cook them I added some shredded carrots, chopped celery, chopped onions, little basil, little parsley, salt, pepper, cut up some Johnsonville smoked sausages, cooked it all together until everything was soft and thick. Before I served I added a bag of fresh spinach which wilted in there. I also got a loaf of french bread, sliced it down the middle, added salted butter with a little garlic powder and broiled it till lightly brown, eat it with the soup. It turned out really good and flavorfull!
I have a great recipe for smoked sausage and beans that we love. Saute onion petals and minced garlic in a little olive oil until fragrant and starting to soften. Add some green/red/yellow peppers slices (whatever you have on hand–can also be left out entirely) and the sausage, sliced into rounds. When the peppers are tender, add 1 small can of tomato sauce and your beans (already cooked). Heat through and serve over (or mixed with) hot cooked brown rice. Delicious! I got this basic recipe from the back of a bag of garbanzo beans, and have tweaked it a bit, and just use whatever beans I have on hand.
