I want to give you some tips for how to make rope bracelets for your Christmas shoebox. You can do these pretty inexpensively too, plus it’s easy enough for kids to learn how to do it. (The tutorial in the video below is great.)
We just used a piece of cardboard from an old box to make our “loom” for weaving the bracelet. And as for the string, I bought a jumbo bag of cross stitch thread for less than $10. (If you go to JoAnn’s, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby, be sure to use a 40% off coupon from their store ad.) We have made countless bracelets and used it for crafts at my daughter’s birthday party and we still have plenty of it left.
This was the best video tutorial on making rope bracelets that I could find. The crafter in this video takes it step-by-step and goes slowly enough for kids to follow along.
These take up almost no space at all, and the children love them. Find more great ways to fit gifts in your Christmas boxes HERE.

I remember making these years ago! Thanks for posting this. I have a TON of cross stitch thread just sitting around and now I’ll make a bunch of bracelets!
