Our Adoption Journey: Filling Out the Paperwork…

Adoption: Filling Out the Paperwork

Before we started the adoption process, the one thing everyone warned me about was the paperwork. Mounds and mounds of it. I am pretty organized by nature, so I wasn’t really all that worried. After all, I thought, how much can it be?

So, I should probably be filling out paperwork right now instead of writing a post. You will think so too once I tell you all I need to be doing! But, I wanted to stop and ask if you could pray for me during this process. I would sure appreciate it. One thing that demotivates me the most is tedious work, like paperwork. I love to write (that is probably why I am doing this instead of filling out paperwork) and do more creative work like taking pictures and putting pretty writing on it, so paperwork is not really up my alley. With that said, I am excited to get it done so I can have a baby in my arms very soon!

I have been reading Crystal Paine’s book Say Goodbye to Survival Mode this week and it couldn’t have come at a better time! (I’ll have a nice review on it for you soon.) But for now I am implementing her weekly goal sheets to try and wade through all my adoption paperwork. Breaking it down into daily tasks seems to make it much more doable, and might just keep me sane.

This week and next my goals are to:

  • Complete four grant applications
  • Complete four agency applications
  • Create a family profile for the birth mother

Um, sound like a lot? It is. But, I know if I break it down into bite sized chunks I can get it done. And with a lot of help from the Lord.

I could use your prayers too! Will you pray for me, that I will be super-motivated to get this process completed? The sooner I finish, the sooner we get to bring our sweet baby home.

I would love to hear about any tips, tricks or ideas you have to get me through this process! I absolutely loved reading all your stories and encouragement when I wrote last week about all the fears that were running through my head!

Sending prayers your way Kelly that you will receive guidance, words of encouragement, and strength to complete all the paperwork. Stay in faith that you and your family will soon be providing a nurturing home for your new baby that needs your love. Ask, Believe, Receive!
