As my kids get older, I am finding it harder and harder to keep them full! Can anyone else relate? Just when I’ve cleaned up one meal, they are asking for something else to eat. I literally can’t keep up and if I stop to make them something every time they are hungry, I will never leave the kitchen. Ever.
But, even though they are this cute, I still am not about staying in the kitchen all day.
So, I decided to do a few things to make life easier on myself. Just like I meal plan our dinners, I have started mapping out snacks for the week and doing a little prep work to make life easier for myself. Here are some of my best tips to keep your children fed and you out of the kitchen.
Have a meal prep day. I try really hard to offer my kids healthy options, but the best way to do that, is to just do a mass prep once a week. I might make homemade hummus, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins or just chop up fruit.
Meal prep in individual snack bags. One of my favorite ways to save is to buy things in bulk and then take a few minutes after I get home to do a little snack prep. I will take things like pretzel sticks, a cheese block or even carrots and prep them to be ready for snack bags, then my kids can just grab and go.
*Tip: If you don’t do it after you get home, you probably won’t do it at all. Trust me.
Fill snack bins. I have a snack “bin” in the freezer, refrigerator and in the pantry. Anytime the kids are hungry, they can open it up and grab whatever they want. Mom-approved snacks, anytime they want. And the most important part, they don’t need me to get them!
What do I do when I don’t do any of those things above? I keep a few pre-made, prepackaged items on hand to save my sanity! Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin ™was kind enough to ask me to try their product and let you know what my kids and I thought!
My kids enjoy Sandwich Bros. sandwiches to get us through the crazy days. I found that Sandwich Bros. sandwiches are a convenient meal option. They heat up quickly and are an easy, simple meal that the kids can grab and heat up all by themselves!
I found Sandwich Bros. at my local Kroger in the frozen aisle under the sandwiches & snack area.
You can find their entire line of products on their website, but here are the ones my Kroger carried.
The best part is right now you can grab this $1 off Sandwich Bros. printable coupon to try them out yourself!
